PeckhamRose
Me and Mr Rose have half a job between us and that is my job. However, due to this forum Mr Rose is now getting a few good quality odd jobs so that things are ticking along a little. And I am training for another part time career in May.Soooo I will try not get the January blues because at least we don't have a mortgage and there are a lot of people worse off.Still, bloody cold though! SeanMacGabhann
And there was me thinking one of your '09 resolutions was to not just SAY you were coming to a drinks quids...One of my 08 resolutions was to not get quite so gut-churningly upset, just because of what 11 fellas in red and white do on a football pitch. Fortunately for me I largely managed that, because those fellas in red and white went on to be even more dissapointing this year. But the main reason to not get so gut-churningly upset was, quite apart from my own sanity, it didn't seem fair to inflict it on Lady Mac.So there it is. "Not getting upset makes other people happy" shocker. indiepanda
I quite like that "clean sheet of paper" feeling that comes with the new year, always seems full of promise. And I didn't go quite so loopy on presents and in the sales that I am going to get that "broke till pay day feeling" that normally makes January drag.If I get down it's more usually February that does it to me - combination of the reminder of singledom that is valentines day - no matter how crap and commericialized it is, still feels worse being single than not. Plus it's another month of long nights and coldness on top of November, December, January etc. But in addition to my week of skiing in Jan, I have a long weekend of skiing at the start of Feb to look forward to, and a day course in perfumery at the end of the month which I have wanted to do for many years, plus other things planned, so I am actually quite looking forward to it this year :-). Keef
Only reason I find it a bit depressing is because I will have no money for a couple of weeks. It does however promise to be a great new year, and I am excited about 2009. Moos
Happy New Year, everyone!Jah and Belle - bless you for being the charming glass-half-full people that you are. Good on you. Best of luck to all the people who know they have Big Things coming in 2009 (buggie, Keef....) and also to those of us for whom any Big Things will be a surprise...Tony, don't be a twerp, it isn't only men who are only here because their particular sperm hit home one day. (hits upside the head, but in a friendly, ringing-in-the-new-year kind of way). Look forward to Quids' new stance promoting the great business opportunities in ED that 2009 will bring.. :-)May we all grow a little in 2009, and not just in our waistlines.
