I believe there were some photos on here (they weren't mine), and I think it must have been 2006, possibly 2005. It was just very very heavy rain, I remember the stupid 12 bus didn't stop at my stop on Barry Road (the Underhill stop), so I had to get off at Goodrich, and walking down Crystal Palace Road was surreal because the water really was flowing down the road.

Not biblical snorky, but I've not seen the like in London before.

In fact CrystalClear, I seem to remember the reason I got soaked through to the skin was that you werre off work "ill", and I was bringing you provisions (cigarettes and coca-cola)!

It wasn't the same year as the drought was it?

No that was 2003, I know this because I remember coming home from a party in Oxford to find no water, and everyone queuing on the streets with buckets.

It was definitely April 2004. In the picture that Keef provided of Half Moon Lane in Herne Hill my friends bar (Bolands now SE22) which was next door to the Lloyds Bank in the picture was severely flooded and their basement had to be drained of the water but it recovered in time for my sister's wedding reception at the end of the month. A friend took some photos at the time of waste bins floating down the road.

    • Ash tree branch. Before speculating as to cause and whether it was deliberate or not, it’s worth remembering that there is ash dieback around. Also tree branches fall off without warning, especially if there’s internal rot or disease which is not outwardly apparent. And yes, there are regular checks done on the health of the trees in the Wood.
    • Dulwich folk well particularly ED folk have more money than certainly me - £4.00 for bread and butter? That is outrageous and I certainly would not pay £30 for an organic chicken - weird one is pate and runner beans combo. Don’t think butcher on Lordship Lane charges that but each to their own - live in Devon now and no way is an organic chicken that price!!
    • I was sitting on the park bench yesterday opposite north Dulwich station and found an Apple Watch hanging off the corner. I have brought it home and charged it hoping that someone might use ‘find my’ to locate it. Equally happy to be contacted this way to return it to the rightful lender / they just need to say what colour/kind of strap it has. If you can think of a better way to return it / find its owner then please advise. And/or feel free to share on other local fora.
