Hopefully by the time the paintbrushes are out they'll have realised what an absolutely bloody awful name they've come up with.

I went there on Saturday. It seems creamier than Oddonos which may be more authentically Italian (I don?t know) but really it is a matter of personal taste if you prefer it.

I live much closer to Oddonos so won?t be going out of my way to go to Fire and Ice but if I fancy some gelato after lunch or dinner at the Flying Pig, I will definitely go back.

They should do a nice trade near the playground and its nice to see more businesses opening up. I wish them well.

They had (maybe still have) a notice on their door on Friday night which I didn't thoroughly read as it was quite long, but I believe the name is part of a quotation from Blake, or is related to Blake in some way.

As they are just round the corner from the Blake mural, I actually think the name is quite appropriate, if that is why they have chosen it :)

Tried Fabulous Ice fire last week and got hooked. Delicious flavours, and love their own recipie. Of course it's personal tastes but I prefer it to Oddono. It would be good to have different portion sizes (though 3 flavours for ?2.50 seems good value given the portion sizes) - and yes, I have suggested it to them, too.
A pilates studio has taken over the old French cafe site...couldn't see another cafe and restaurant opening there tbh. But there seems to be something opening up near the cemetery end of forest hill road, go past on my bike every day and have been watching the builders at work, front painted and planters outside where I guess there'll be seating.

I like Le Chandelier and it would be a shame if it were to close, but must admit, it never seems that busy whenever I've visited.

    • Lordship Lane has two dry cleaners, three pizza places and an Italian selling pizza, two burger places, three bakeries, two hardware (ish, I'm thinking AJ Farmer here), God knows how many coffee and charity shops, two Italians, three nail salons, five wine shops... Where was the abject outrage when Dynamic Vines opened up literally next door to Cave de Bruno? But I don't see his customers decamped next door - no, those stalwarts are still out in force every night.  In Roman times all businesses were clustered by product. It's what kept prices down. Same in any market you go to abroad, they're all selling the same things next to each other.  Why is everyone being so hard on this new place? It's called healthy competition - you can't curtail the expansion of your business on the basis you that might hurt someone else's.

    • In restaurant terms I would say a chain manifests when the motivation is no longer “we are a couple/small group who have an idea and love food” who open a restaurant, them another and then a few more BUT THEN PIVOT to “we need capital to rollout out new restaurants so we have leveraged the help of the following investors”  that is the moment it stops being about the chef/food on the plate and becomes about the spreadsheet  so it is POSSIBLE  for a restaurant to have 50 branches and not be a chain - but I can’t think of any  I don’t know chango - by based on the number of outlets they appear to have just crossed/or are about to cross that line
