Another recommendation for Fabulous Ice Fires - Much better than Oddono's, and easily on par with the best gelato I've had in Italy. Popped in yesterday with my Italian friend who backed me up on this. Cheap too.

Yep. Twice. First time I thought service was poor, atmosphere weird and drinks expensive. But that was close to opening so I gave it another chance a while later. Sadly, found it the same.

But others like it, and the food, so might be that it's just not my cup of tea.

I've now been to Dead Doll's a few times, I really like it and have found the staff and punters to be super friendly. Looking forward to trying the food soon, it looks great. ?6 for a double G&T I didn't think was bad. Give it another go mancity!

Just had a ?6.95 lunch at the Cherry Tree. Incredible value for two very nice courses and a good glass of wine. Then wandered round to fabulous fire and ice (or whatever its name is) for 3 scoops of outstanding icecream for ?2.50. Both places are good enough that I will certainly be going back even after the introductory offers are finished.

I have heard really great things about the coffee at La Scala on Grove Vale though I have not tried it myself. But I love their jolly messages on the blackboard outside the cafe.

Ate at Pedlers last night and we had a great meal. The team there are so friendly & enthusiastic. $ of the 6 dishes were great, 1 was very good and 1 was disappointing (but to be fair we decided afterwards that none of us was a big celeriac fan to start with so maybe not the best choice to have made!). The various gin drinks we tried were lovely. All in all a lovely time, well worth going to. Loved the cosy "snug" which is tucked in an alcove and all wallpapered/painted a dark green colour. Lovely place to sit if you are a party of 6.

As of tomorrow Blue Mountaain on North Cross rd in ED will be open evenings as a Jamaican restaurant!!

The occasional Jamaican food they do for lunch is always great so I'm really excited. Apparently hey hope to do take away as well eventually.
