Of course that 49 game stretch would have been 50, if Wayne Rooney had not done his disgraceful dive to cheat United to a penalty. A dive so bad that even Ronaldo would have blushed. One of the most diabolical decisions in any given season was that penalty.

Let's face it when United won the treble they were extremely lucky. We can talk about Liverpool being lucky in Istanbul due to be being 3-0 down at half time when in the end they fought back and deserved their win... but United in 1999, 2 corner kicks in injury time against a dominant Bayern Munich, oh puuurrlease...

Chuck in the all the diving over the years, snarling, kicking, conning referees, United would not have achieved half of what they did if the Referees in this country had any bottle... and that's a FACT!

I've no axe to grind, in fact, if I had to choose I'd like Arsenal to have won out of the big teams...but Man U are a class above the rest of you 'big boys' so why don't you pick up your toys..it really sounds sour grapes from big teams moaning about luck and refs cheating etc.... try being fans of sides who don't have you 'luck' and bias decisions as a matter of course....

What chance United slip up at Newcastle tonight.. is it possible the Geordies (a club I've always admired for their winning mentality, team work and resolute defence), can pull off a shock!? Is it possible Ferguson will take pity on Newcastle and only send out 8 players to make it a competitive game before putting Van Der Saar back in goal for the 2nd half instead of Rio!?

It's twenty years ago almost to the day that Liverpool trailed Arsenal by 19 points and swung it 22 points before that final, fateful night at Anfield when ... well you all know what happend ...

March 1st, 1989, Liverpool started the ball rolling with an unconvincing 2-0 win over Charlton at Anfield ... does this ring any bells for anyone!? Title charge, not over yet!?

I can't see Mancs slipping up against the geordies. As I've said before the title is there's to lose. Liverpool and Chelski haven't got a prayer. When a bookie pays out on Mancs winning title ( yes I know they got it wrong once before) you can rest assured they know what they are doing.

Now we are getting to the true crux of a football argument...who has the ugliest players! :))

I am of the firm opinion that Fergie, having had his fingers burnt by 'Brylcream Boy' Beckham, now has a policy to sign players that only a mother could love.

Which bookie has paid out Atila - is it Paddy Power?

    • I sometimes don't feel as comfortable as I did but it's not because I'm older, it's because I'm sober. Staggering home when I was younger I always felt I like a had a cloak of invisibility around me. And a magic compass - not even sure how I found my way home some nights.
    • I'm London born and bred and have always considered myself streetwise having grown up in Notting hill (pre getrification) and I lived on the border of Harlesden (kensal green) in the 90's  when it was pretty sketchy round there .and I spent much of the 80's and early 90's in downtown New York.. I would walk everywhere at all hours of the day and night and never felt particularly uneasy largely because I was always mindful of my surroundings and walked with 'purpose'. I don't know wether its because I'm now so much older but I don't feel as comfortable as I used to walking round London. Today I was in the West end and I made sure to carry my bag on the opposite arm to that facing the kerb and felt uneasy when I saw people wizzing around on limebikes or scooters close to the kerb..I never got my phone out at all...I never used to feel like this but just recently I've had friends witness phone and bag snatching in central london in broad daylight..apparently it happened so fast in both instances there was nothing anyone could do to help..One phone snatching was during the tube strike 7.30am two guys on bikes grabbed a mans phone..My friend took the victim to a nearby hotel to sit down and recover the hotel said due to the tube strike they had witnessed many duo's of youth out very early on bikes aware that there were more pedestrians around at that time with their phones out trying for Ubers or looking at directions. I would'nt say I feel 'unsafe' I just feel more aware of being a possible target for crime than formerly. I don't know if this is due to being older or due to reading the press.
    • The fact everyone has had a CCTV camera in their pockets for the last 15+ years has done a huge amount to prevent and mitigate random drunken violence.  Thugs can't get away with what they used to anymore.
