TLS - I have just backed Barca to win @ 2.35 with 30 mins to go.

General - I quite like Chelsea under Hiddink - definately good to watch but I'd like to have an international flavour to the final - 2 English teams in the final is not what the Champions League is about. Although it does reflect English superiority, I don't think its a good spectacle for the neutral.

Eto has just made an excellent save to foil Eto - good game now with barca building the pressure - if Anelka comes on though, I would be concerned about him, he is excellent on the break.

Even more annoying - I had ?144 on my betfair account and bet ?44 on barca in running - the bet was not matched so I (thought I cancelled it) and did it again and it seems I did 2 x ?44 bets. Thats the second time I have doubled up by mistake on betfair and lost, a bit annoying. Thats the trouble with trying to watch football, have a beer, bet, write on the forum and try to buy a patio power washer online, all at the same time.

Never mind Mick it could've been worse, you could've ended up with two patio power washers...

0-0 isn't that great a result, Chelski will probably still have to win at the Bridge to go through, and with Chelski having to press forward more, Barca will be more effective hitting them on the break...

I don't hate Chelsea as a club, as they really are a bit of an irrelevance. It's their players I don't like.

I made a ?59 Profit on the Game Mick but made a sily "schoolboy error"...

I did "First Goal Odds" and all the Second-Half Blocks of 10 Minutes Won me money.

I forgot that "No Goals" was a loser!--I'm thinking in the second-half that I was guaranteed a Profit on this market. Wrong!

btw: Saw your other post M8---NEVER drink and Gamble!!!!:)-D

I wouldn't quite say they parked the bus. They defended very well and had to as Henry, Eto'o and Messi have scored 90 goals between them this season. Cech had a blinder in goal and John Terry was like a rock throughout. I thought they got the tactics spot on but I can still see them losing at home as I'm not convinced by their home form.
I think the eventual winner will come from the Barca Chelsea match based on what we have seen so far. No offence to Arsenal but I can't see them getting past MU and I think MU will not win the final as they are running a bit low on gas after a long season. But I'd like to see a Barca MU final.

    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
    • I'd quit this thread, let those who just want to slag Labour off have their own thread.  Your views on the economy are worth debating.  I'm just stunned how there wasn't this level of noise with the last government.  I could try to get some dirt on Badenoch but she is pointless  Whilst I am not a fan of the Daily Mirror at least there is some respite from Labour bashing. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/grenfell-hillsborough-families-make-powerful-36175862 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/nigel-farage-facing-parliamentary-investigation-36188612
    • That is a bit cake and eat it tho, isn’t it?    At what point do we stop respecting other people’s opinions and beliefs  because history shows us we sometimes simply have no other choice  you are holding some comfort blanket that allows you to believe we are all equal and all valid and we can simply voice different options - without that ever  impacting on the real world  Were the racists we fought in previous generations different? Were their beliefs patronised by the elites of the time? Or do we learn lessons and avoid mistakes of the past?   racists/bigots having “just as much to say” is both true and yet, a thing we have learnt from the past. The lesson was not “ooh let’s hear them out. They sound interesting and valid and as worthy of an audience as people who hold the opposite opinion”
    • I don't have a beef with you. But I do have a beef with people who feel that a certain portion of the public's opinion isn't valid.  I don't like racism any more than anyone else here. But I do dislike the idea that an individual's thoughts, beliefs and feelings, no matter how much I may disagree with them, are somehow worth less than my own.  And I get the sense that that is what many disenfranchised voters are feeling - that they are being looked down upon as ignorant, racists who have no right to be in the conversation. And that's what brings out people on the margins and drives them towards extremes, like Reform.  Whether you like it or not, the racist, bigot, anti-european nextdoor to you has just as much say in the country as you do. Intellectual superiority is never going to bring them round.
