I went upto Parkhead to watch Celtic v Liverpool in the UEFA Cup few years back, and I was impressed with their YNWA but I have to admit it's not quite like a balmy night at Anfield when the Kop turn on the power and you feel the words racing through your veins :)
I just think that it would be shallow to support them while despising them during the season.

Perhaps you're right, but I don't despise anyone, so it's okay ;-)

Chelsea knocked us out, so I do kind of want Barca to win, and I totally agree that an all English european cup final is lacking in something, so perhaps I am rooting Barca, but if Chelsea do go past them, I shall give them "big ups".

some of my best friends are Scousers I'll have you know ;-)

Yeah, I shagged a manc bird once, lets all be friends >:D<

Actually, I think she supported City...

Sorry Matthew, but since the Kop went all-seater it's a pale shadow of its former self, especially YNWA, clubs today compensate by trying to stage manage atmospheres in grounds, take last night at the Emirates with the flags, leave that sort of thing to the Chelski's of this world...

HAHA! I went to Magaluf once which I have now renamed Shag a Northerner.

The thing is (and this isn't about being a better fan, etc etc), when you go every week and travel however many thousand miles to watch your club over a season, you are going to be a slight bit more passionate than your average person who goes once or twice in that same season.

I don't like United or Everton. United because of the rivalry between us and also the whole Liverpool/Manchester thing and also we're the two biggest clubs in the country so that comes with the territory.

It really started for me in that 96 FA Cup final. :(

I stood on the old Kop terrace for a few years before it was seated, but I have to say the very best atmosphere I've witnessed was the 2005 semi final 2nd leg against Chelsea. What you also have to remember Red Devil, assuming you're not a regular on the Kop, is that commentaries these days are done up on the gantry of the upper centenary stand rather than from the press box which is in the thick of the crowd. How often do people go to a game then switch on the Sky+ and you wonder what's happened to all that noisy singing?

Hmmm, not sure about that Matthew, I thought Sky had microphones dotted around the pitch perimeter to pick up the crowd not where their commentators sit, however agree that radio commentators and their microphones are usually in the 'gods', I know at OT they sit near the away fans so you can always hear the away fans clearly on the radio commentry...

You mean apart from the love-in we get before every Liverpool home game where they force everyone to watch and listen to the Kop singing the dirge and waving their scarves? ::o

They do have mics around the ground but purely for background otherwise you'd never hear the commentators

    • I know I'm a bit premature but don't want to forget through too much Chrisntas cheer! Southwark Council Christmas trees recycling arrangements 2025 - bit worrying for the future that they're emphasising the free bit. "We’ll collect and recycle your real Christmas tree for free!  Trees should not be taller than 5ft. You should chop any taller trees into smaller pieces. Remove all decorations and the pot or stand and recycle it by: putting your tree with your garden waste containers on collection day requesting a free collection if you do not have a garden waste collection  taking it to our Reuse and Recycling Centre [43 Devon Street, SE15 1AL open 08:30-16:30 Mon-Sun] If you live in a flat you must leave the tree: outside on the kerb visible for the collection crew not in a bin store" I'll add the link to the collection booking service when it opens on 22 December.
    • Most homes in East Dulwich / Good Green ward have collections on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. So no changes for them this year.  But for those few local homes with collections normally on Thursdays or Friday, with Christmas, Boxing day happening on Thursday and Friday any blue, brown or green bin collections will be delayed by two days. So Thursday 25 December collections will be on Saturday 27 December and Friday 26 December collections on Sunday 28 December. For New Years day those Thursday collections will be on the Friday 2 January and those with normal collections of Fridays that will be on Saturday 3 January. To double check when your Southwark Council rubbish, recycling, food waste, garden waste collections will be taking place please please check here - https://services.southwark.gov.uk/bins/lookup
    • Luckily I don't really any regular reason to park at Dawson Heights.  It must be very difficult for the residents I do feel for them.  Thank you for them.  I just presumed that Southwark owned the estate and would be responsible for parking enforcement there.
