lol, I was going to mention him but I thought it might start a row. There was always big Tony Adams too....I think he was drunk when he went shopping most of the time though so he can be forgiven.

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo insists Real Madrid have bought him for a snip at ?80m. "Of course the club can pay ?80m for me," said Ronaldo. "Or more. I think I'm worth more."

Full story: The Sun

There, in a nutshell, is the reason why I can't stand the show pony.

Sunderland have bid about ?11 million for Peter Crouch and Portsmouth are considering their response. The forward has expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation at the club, with many out-of-contract players having left and uncertainty surrounding the proposed takeover by Sulaiman al-Fahim. The England striker scored 18 goals last season after his ?11m move from Liverpool.

Sorry to disappoint you SP but Aurellio is out for a maximum of 2 months, perhaps back in 1 month according to Rafa... so in plenty of time to demonstrate the art of scoring a free kick whilst the goalkeeper is flat footed ;-)

As for Peter Crouch he should show Pompey a bit of respect and remember he is under contract - his apparent dissatisfaction seems to be an excuse for another juicy signing on bonus. The reason for leaving Liverpool is still valid to why he should remain at Fratton Park, i.e. first team football, as it certainly wasn't to have a crack at the title.

I think players need to take the rough with the smooth - if others jump ship it's not an invitation to also disembark. Think about the poor supporter who through thick and thin keeps plodding along giving their support and hard earned dosh and then a star player has a little cry to manufacture a move. It's time for clubs to play hard ball and not be soft - I have no sympathy for Crouch.

I think Sunderland are testing the water. We have a Plan A - We get taken over by Dr Al Fahim with the financial backing of Holger Heims and Plan B - we rely on Hayden Mullins to assure our relegation and eventual administration.

Sunderland are getting their bid in just in case we are plan B.

Just talking about silly footballer injuries. I was with Jason Lee some time ago (Baddiel and Skinner ruined him), we were playing FIFA 95 I think. He picked up his nephew, my godson, and put his back out. He had to get straight on the phone to Stuart Pearce, then manager of Notts Forest to explain his injury. I could hear Pearce screaming at him from over the phone! Hillarious!

I am meant to be dining with the new Pompey owner Saturday evening - bet he does not show, but if he does then I will surely get some juicy gossip!

Robert Mancini is new PFC manager btw - I got in while he was still at 4-1 but I think the odds have dropped now!

We've given Pompey and West Ham a hell of a lot more players than we've taken in return!

Coming to Anfield from Pompey or Hammers: G.Johnson, Yossi, Dicks

Going in opposite direction: Pennant, Crouch, Patrik Berger, Dicks, Burrows, Marsh, Ruddock, James, Jones, Hutchison, Titi Camera, Rigobert Song

    • https://www.assistancedogs.org.uk/information-hub/assistance-dogs-emotional-support-dogs-and-therapy-dogs/   hello   i’d be interested to understand if anyone.has experience of Assistance Dogs especially for autistic children of different ages for emotional support and therapy   There was a prior thread on this topic on EDF 10 hrs ago but it had limited experiences and there was a (claimed) change in UK legislation in 2019. Whilst the industry appears unregulated/unlicensed, there are several providers (approx 15, perhaps more) who claim to have fully trained dogs or say that they can help families to train a puppy/young dog over the 18-24 months.  The latter obviously comes with a need for strong commitment to the challenge. Costs for a fully trained assistance dog are quoted at £13-15k albeit they claim £23k total cost to train the dog. On the one hand, this could potentially be a useful solution for some families if such a dog was truly trained as their websites claim and such a dog was accepted in public places and schools etc… On the other hand, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen an assistance dog of this type or in this context (only for a blind or partially sighted person) and hence a real risk of fraud or exploitation! The SEN challenge for families coupled with limited resources in schools or from local authorities or the NHS as well as the extremely challenging experience of many families with schools offering little or no support or making the situation worse leaves a big risk of lots of different types of fraud and or exploitation in this area.
    • Hi there  We live on Woodwarde Road backing on to Alleyns Top Field.  Our cat Gigi has gone missing — it’s been about 24 hours now. She is a cream Bengal. Could you please check sheds, garages, or anywhere she might have got stuck please? And if you could keep an eye out or share on any local groups/forums, we’d really appreciate it. Photo attached.   Thanks so much! My name is Jeff on 07956 910068.
    • Colin.    One for the old school.   Just saying.
    • Signed, and I will share it elsewhere, thank you for posting this. It's got nearly 70,000 signatures at present, and apparently runs till February.
