Oh I don't know. The Greek place and 24 hour Digital Photos? Who knows. But given this is one of the best read community forums in the UK, with 5000 odd registered users locally it struck me as odd and a little naive.

The New Rules for any retail opening expect you to have a well presented presence on the web and to embrace and ENGAGE with customers across the main social media channels. It won't go away. Hiding away and thinking you're special or that it's still 1987 doesn't work anymore. Unless you're an old school commoditised business like a launderette, a newsagents or a key cutting shop.

Those who ignore these basics tend to be grumpy business owners over a certain age, naive or just plain arrogant and think they're above it. They are not.

There'd have to be a little glass cabinet on the side of the bar with two cheese and onion rolls (min 2 days old) in it and the nuts would have to be BigD nuts on a card with a scantilly clad go-go dancer underneath - and a tin of Castella by the register for aunthenticity.

A saloon bar on one side (ETA: or do I mean public? It's all getting a bit hazy) and a lounge bar on the other. No comfy sofas or armchairs in either.

In the (unheated) ladies' loo, a green stain below the cold tap, the only one that works.

    • We did London to Avignon, which was a dream - changed at Lille and the journey south was smooth and so much more relaxing and scenic than the inside of an airport / Easy jet plane. I'd thoroughly recommend it.
    • That looks like a dahlia tuber.   The clumpy, swollen shape with sprouting white roots is typical of dahlia tubers that have overwintered in the ground. They often look a bit mutant or alien, especially when several tubers fuse together or grow in odd directions.   If you dug it up from your garden and it’s not slimy or rotten, it’s probably still viable. You can pot it up or plant it directly in the ground once the risk of frost is gone. Keep the knobbly end (where the stem was) just at or slightly below the surface and water it in.   If you’re unsure, you can leave it somewhere warm and bright for a bit and see if shoots appear. That’ll confirm it’s a living dahlia and not some rogue tuber trying to cause confusion.
    • Sam did a great job of restoring our rather weather beaten and rotten external wooden doors and facia board. highly skilled and very reliable. would definitely recommend
