ED featured in Time Out this week

Thought some you might be interested that East Dulwich or "Easy D" as they call it features in the magazine this week. They mention most of the good restaurants/pubs although there's a few notable admissions.

The story is that she panic-bought at the height of the 80s boom and lived there for 'a few days' before trading up to Belgravia.

But that wasn't East Dulwich. It was Dulwich Common, SE21.

Time Out has always been uneasy about our neck of the woods. Every review used to begin with 'In an area otherwise bereft of good eateries...' And then give an average review to something.

I think we are all more precious about East, West or Village (or Common) than those looking in - I think the Thatcher house was in College Ward, which certainly covers parts of SE22 and parts which would be equally certainly considered East Dulwich. Most wouldn't consider the Thatcher house ED - but it was pretty damn close.

I'm not sure we are more precious. No-one in or out regards Dulwich Village as East Dulwich. And Thatcher's house in Hambledon Place, SE21, was most definitely not East Dulwich.

I'm starting to think the use of the (clearly obnoxious and made up) term 'East D' was a clever ruse to get people talking about the article. Either that, or the journo is simply a bell end.
