I loved the quotes from the Guardian including this gem: "...Andy Blackett, 30, an estate agent, who had two trolleys full of bargains. ?I got two coffee makers, two tablets, two TVs and a stereo,? he said. ?I couldn?t tell you the prices, but I know they?re bargains.?

You can't blame the American's for the ignorance of people here. As for it being grotesque, it's just another day of sales in shops. I think it all the publicity the day has got has helped cause a type of feeding frenzy.

But that's the thing Alan. Stupid people...what can you do. ..but I don't want to be American. The UK retail industry has just embraced and created the sales equivalent of crack. With the media amplifying that. America is a civilisation on the decline. It is full of the worst excesses of capitalist greed. It might be my hangover but basically Americans trying to bring their shit over here and make us dance to it can #???# right off back to Kansas.

When I saw all the crap on TV I assumed it was a VAT free day in the shops. But no, it's just a standard one day sale heavily promoted for morons who think they're getting a deal before Christmas. The supermarkets will make that money back and more from the very same people when they go back over the next month to buy other Christmas goods.

Why can't we be angry about lots of things? I'm middle-aged, for goodness' sake.

It's a fundemental flaw of our economic philosophy. We employ people to make crap which then has to be somehow sold to keep everyone employed. Meanwhile, those at the top suck all the wealth they can from the wages of the masses. If you really think about it, most of human life is pointless.

    • If you are looking for a trustworthy professional, I highly recommend Niko. He has consistently delivered quality work. No job is too small, and he is always accommodating. He has helped me out on a number of occasions, often at short notice when unexpected issues arose. His number is 07818 607583.
    • Well, they do turn them away from the A&E route at Kings and rightly so they employ GPs and if after triaging you’re determined to have a GP type problem you are sent to see one of the GPs on site or close to the site.
    • My bike (a ELOPS 120 step over classic from Decathlon) was stolen from outside The Belham this afternoon. I locked it up while I collected my kids, then the street was so busy that I left it there while I walked them home. Did a few other things at home, came back about 5.30pm and it was gone. Sharing just in case anyone sees it or finds it anywhere - it’s a few years old and the chain is a bit rusty/makes a clicking sound so maybe there’s a slight chance someone would dump it! Really annoying and just a reminder to be really careful with bikes. The picture shows the bike model from the Decathlon website.
    • Thanks, I didn't know that.  People are even more stupid than I thought then, if they are willing to wait hours in A&E for an ingrown toenail. I presume they don't get put at the front of the queue. Why isn't the 111 service more widely advertised? That puts you in touch with a doctor, who will advise on the phone or visit, and if necessary  you will be advised to go to A&E or they will arrange an ambulance to take you.
