Good question Spadetownboy.. the southern variety. Being a Cork boy I first tried the northern varieties when ONeils pub chain started up back in the early 90s. I was looking forward to them but found them a bit bland. Although I think southern Tayto's have gone the same way...
there,s two types david the ones from tayto castle in tandragee co.armagh and a brand of the same name made in the south the tayto castle ones are in the traditional yellow pack and the southern ones are in a red pack.have to disagree with sean og tayto cheese n,onion knock spots off anything else on the market, saying that im also quite partial to their wuster sauce flavour and spring onion(scallion) flavours as well.but they,re hard to get hold of. still i can survive as long as i have my club orange and kimberly, mikado and coconut creams all washed down with a mug of corks finest-barrys tea.best thing to come out of cork apart from sean obviously.

back on topic, i saw under the old motor traders sign that they pulled down is a very old one that reads 'cooperative society' suggesting there was a bit of community up there once.

before the chinese medicine people turned up I wanted to turn that shop into a British style restaurant, like St. John's in Smithfield, as it was an old Kennedy's butcher shop with all the old decorative tiles still in place.

Moghul Spice isn't a bad take-away either. As someone else has mentioned, the only thing we don't really have within a quick flash is a decent bakers or a good off-licence, but otherwise it's not too shabby up here at all. I didn't realise that little house is up for sale in Plough Lane and I live on the same road. :S

happy days,if i get you a 48 pk box sean does that equilivate to 48 pints?

I'm quite annoyed my dry cleaners is shut... It would happen now when I need coats and dresses dry cleaned... How is the one down the bottom of Lordship Lane?

I went to Badger Bakery for the first time in ages today (despite living across the road) had a rather yummy chocolate slice. For some reason they intimidate me although my mother is their most regular customer, judging by the amount of freshly baked bread and buns we seem to accumulate in the kitchen.

Ahh don't get me started on Taytos (am agreed on their cheese and onion too - perfect!) and other Irish confectionary. I just wish the woman in the Irish shop wasn't so scary. I went into get Mikado biscuits, and she sat on the stool and growled at me... I paid for my biscuits and ran. I haven't been back since.

you should be able to get them in sainsburys, potato bread, soda farls and wheaten, its the stuff endorsed by paul rankin not the best you,ll ever eat but not a bad imitation.the irish shop still does stuff but only on certain days as its bakery made so obviously a better product and it goes like the proverbial hot cakes.mmm i now quite fancy a toasted soda farl dripping with butter, manna.

Now posting has gone way off topic - somebody can do a "Where can I buy.." thread... Actually I might start it myself, I need some blind.

Back to my original question - does anyone know what IS happening up that end with a substantial amount of real estate - someone posted about the trust which owns it but no idea what the plan is

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.
