You've repeated yourself though, "Bob"...."Bluefoot"/"Bluefeet" is a derogatory term for White people so you can only have one point for that, I'm afraid....other than that, as you were.....

Basically isarens, some people think you're just a "troll" starting this thread to get a rise. I'm not sure if you are or not, but the simple fact is, in East Dulwich, you're just NOT ALLOWED to critisise people with kids.

Just remember that, it doesn't matter how annoying they (the parent) are, or how inconsiderate to the rest of the world, it's just their right.

I don't think isarens is a troll - has made some decent posts elsewhere on here and probably wasn't aware, being new and all

It is a VERY tired subject tho... anyone wishing to know how the debate usually goes can do a search on any of the following words

yummy

buggy (but not buggie!)

prams

If you are agin the number of prams knocking around you wil lfind many compadres

if you see nothing wrong with prams, ditto

who knew huh?

I don't think isarens is a troll either. It's like that scene from Aliens where Sigourney Weaver finds herself face to face with the big mummy alien for the first time and then needs to back away very quietly before mummy alien notices.

Isarens - screaming toddlers and their prams and their parents in ED are beyond reproach!

Sorry mate, not trying to fall out with you at all, just think that people making this sort of point do tnd to get put down rather quickly, and usually by the same people.

I think the general conclusion is that there are some total ar?eholes out there pushing prams, and they give every pusher a bad name*, and perhaps people should think of that before they accuse pram pushers in general, but I don't blame them for being miffed.

*Much like someone selling bad drugs.

It is one of those pointless bloody points though isnt it. You get pissed off with mums and prams, what are you going to do about it? Nothing, because there is nothing that can be done. Mums need prams to push their sprogs around in. End of. BTW, my pram pushing days are well and truly over but still.....FFS

God here goes... I couldn't agree more with what you say above TT, of course mums need prams, and have every right to push them around the streets. That does not take away from the fat that a minority of them are rude inconsiderate tw@ts with an attitude, daring anyone to challenge their rights as a parent!

Half the stuff on here is "pointless", but doesn't mean it shouldn't be said.

Another example, cyclists OR bus drivers (see earlier thread, which still makes me chuckle in a naughty way). Most perfectly sensible road users, but a few are idiots, and that makes people label them (either group) as a curse to the road!

Perhaps its time ED mothers started using those 'sling' things instead - I hear its wonderful for bonding and takes up far less pavement space. Probably also very good for toning your stomach muscles too. Then if Franklins can start to sell Yak milk perhaps ED can move to yet another demographic. Totnes would be a good example - yoga, local currency..............

How come so many people do so often then?

If someone generally slags off parents or just complains that there are too many buggies in ED, then I think it's fair enough to protest just as people protest when someone generally slags off Peckham, or gypsies - lumping everyone in together just isn't reasonable.

But if someone has a specific complaint to make like 'don't change nappies on restaurant tables' or 'don't hit my ankle' then a lot of people will agree with them, and it's game on. What's the problem?

Funnily enough, I was discussing this with another regular poster this morning. Her perception was that some parents are way too touchy and she would never dare make a comment. Mine is that mothers in particular seem to be fair game to be regularly slagged off, and are pretty unpopular on the Forum! I'm a mother, she isn't. So I guess it's all a question of where you come from...

And the majority aren't. When you meet a rude you, give her some lip and she might mind her manners after that. When I meet a rude driver I tick him off. When I meet a lairy/rude shop assistant I tick them off. etc etc....can you see why this is such a fucking annoying thread.

Other threads like the breastfeeding/nappy changing in restaurant could possibly be constructive as mayhap an expectant mother or father might take it on board. An annoying tw*t with a pram will I'm sure be an annoying Tw*t without a pram.

I don't even care if this makes sense anymore, so I'll stop rambling and bog off.

Okay isarens, could you change this thread title (go back and edit original post) to "A particular annoying mum and her pram", then everyone will feel less victimised and we can all go on with the song game!

Grrr!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, bad day at the office, probably letting it get to me. As Moos says, matter of perspective.

I thought I was being reasonable on here.

Yeah screamin kids.....just wait till the screamin' stops...........oh yeah ..

then it just loops round in y'head at 4.00am ..while the alcohol sweats out of your skin......buggy driven into the ankles...ahhh yeah now your talkin'

Ohh im gettin hard here...

Grr

    • Would anyone have ends of balls of wool, any colour, to mend an old blanket? Any colour? With thanks Mila
    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
