Did that one and doubled my bet - plus got 2/1 with William Hill. Still a loss overall for the day but good to get the winner of the last :))

1.30 - General Miller EW - Unplaced (Next race: Blackpool beach wearing a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat);

2.05 - Somersby Win - 2nd @ 4/1;

2.40 - Exmoor Ranger EW - Unplaced (Next race: Blackpool beach wearing a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat);

3.20 - Punjabi EW - Unplaced (Next race: Blackpool beach wearing a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat);

4.00 - Silver Birch EW - Unplaced (Next race: Blackpool beach wearing a 'Kiss Me Quick' hat);

4.40 - Quevega Win - 1st (Holiday on Blackpool beach with winnings).

Taking, by chance, the back entrance out of our newly refurbed office building today I was thrilled to find something underneath our building. A little, very tucked away Coral bookies in the basement. I then found it has a goods lift in its foyer to my office floor which if you are a tenant you can operate. Brilliant!

Appreciate its all about the web for best odds these days but I like filling out a paper slip somewhere seedy and can now get from my desk to this secret gambling underworld in about 1 minute 30 seconds. Clientele is a heady mix of on site builders, tipsy insurance brokers and the odd posh looking barrister who's nipped out to see how the horse he's got a share in is doing.

Anyways - I'm also ?40 down having also backed Flat Out in the 13.05 (which ran well at 5th I thought) for a decent price. Tomorrow could be distracting.....

Hi Quids and MM, thanks for the welcome back, these tips are more 'fun' bets to keep an interest in the meet, e.g. Lucky 15/Patent etc, for 'serious' bets I prefer to hit one or two horses with win only bets, yesterday I was chasing my 'fun' money and ended up lumping Quevega to get out of jail...

Depending on the odds I will probably lump Masterminded, so Forpadyp is really a 'fun' bet to cover outlay should MM fail, of course if both fail then I'm back in jail!..

    • He did mention it's share of freehold, I’d be very cautious with that. It can turn into a nightmare if relationships with neighbours break down. My brother had a share of freehold in a flat in West Hampstead, and when he needed to sell, the neighbour refused to sign the transfer of the freehold. What followed was over two years of legal battles, spiralling costs and constant stress. He lost several potential buyers, and the whole sale fell through just as he got a job offer in another city. It was a complete disaster. The neighbour was stubborn and uncooperative, doing everything they could to delay the process. It ended in legal deadlock, and there was very little anyone could do without their cooperation. At that point, the TA6 form becomes the least of your worries; it’s the TR1 form that matters. Without the other freeholder’s signature on that, you’re stuck. After seeing what my brother went through, I’d never touch a share of freehold again. When things go wrong, they can go really wrong. If you have a share of freehold, you need a respectful and reasonable relationship with the others involved; otherwise, it can be costly, stressful and exhausting. Sounds like these neighbours can’t be reasoned with. There’s really no coming back from something like this unless they genuinely apologise and replace the trees and plants they ruined. One small consolation is that people who behave like this are usually miserable behind closed doors. If they were truly happy, they’d just get on with their lives instead of trying to make other people’s lives difficult. And the irony is, they’re being incredibly short-sighted. This kind of behaviour almost always backfires.
