I can't believe that I have been out and about today in Peckham and ED in the only places that don't have betting shops. I now have a raging headache and can't be arsed to walk down to L.Lane.

I would have put my fiver on Imperial Commander, so if he wins I shall have a hissy fit.

Errr....idiots gambling question alert:

I went into my nearest turf accountant and placed my bets but have no idea what odds I actually got. Never bothered to find out what they were. Do I get the odds as they were at the time of my bet or the closing odds. Doesn't really make much difference since they're highly unlikely to win but you never know so.....help please....

You horsey people have ignited my interest in the sport though I'm sure it won't last. How can so many experts get it wrong though? So many favourites didn't win or even get close. If it's this difficult might you just as well invest in online bingo.????'s how did you manage to pick IC to win? Who did you listen to? Mick, what did that subscription do for you? Lost you money in seems. The experts don't seem very expert. Well done to Katie Walsh though.

All good points Declan.

I have to admit to losing a small/big fortune this week. Am very much poorer than I was when the week started.

Declan

I read the racing sections in the papers most days

I especially read bits on the big races

I look at what people are saying on Forums

When there's big favourites (in this case) I'll look for a decent alternative horse as prices will be big and an EW bet gives you some degree of insurance

But ultimately, I just look at what Mick Mack is doing and do something else.....

REAL ANSWER= LUCK...this time

I made it for you all by backing Kauto Star and Denman thus ensuring the BN fecal touch would anoint them both. If it wasn't for a Thousand kisses at 20's my Cheltenham could have been a disaster but Ms Walsh got me into ?20 profit for the four days.

Imperial Commander was a class act and I'm not sure KS would have won even if it didn't fall.

Well done Mr ????"s you called it from a week or so ago *doffs wad*

I know, kick a man when he's down. Come on, cheer up France should seal the Grand Slam and you'll have a good win.

    • I never said that. Saying I don’t like some of the rhetoric coming from the left doesn’t mean I approve of Farage et al saying that Afghans being brought here to protect their lives and thank them for their service means there is an incalculable threat to women.    Anything to score a cheap point. It’s pretty pathetic.
    • To be fair we are as hosed as the majority of other countries post-Covid. The problem is Labour promised way too much and leant in on the we need change and we will deliver it and it was clear to anyone with a modicum of sense that no change was going to happen quickly and actually taking the reigns may have been a massive poison- chalice. As Labour are finding to their cost - there are no easy answers.  A wealth tax seems straightforward but look how Labour have U-turned on elements of non-dom - why? Because the super rich started leaving the country in their droves and whilst we all may want them to pay more tax they already pay a big chunk already and the government saw there was a problem.
    • You don’t think there are right-wing politicians fanning this with rhetoric? Really?
    • No party is willing to tackle the "elephant in the room" which is the national debt. It is costing the country circa £100 Billion ANNUALLY to service that debt. That is more than the defence and education budgets. That debt burden has to be reduced which in reality means cost cuts. That means cutting back state pensions, index-linked pensions for civil servants and others such as police, NHS etc. It means cutting back on universal credit and cutting the number of people who are claiming benefits.
