Hiya dulwichmum,

Yes I certainly remember Starbucks at DKH Sainsburys. Was really surprised when it turned up there, not long after Starbucjs bought out Seattle Coffee Co and started to colonise the West End. Often used to have a coffee there on a Sunday after picking up stuff from Sainsburys.

Bit surreal to have a view of the other shoppers coming through the checkouts, though.

The staff in there were a bit hopeless, as well.

Well Slim,

I just loved the big soft chairs and the coffee and the fluffy top on it, and the cheesecake, and the Ikea sliding bead toy thingy that occupied the little ones while they ate their ginger bread men. Isn't it a sad day when you stop shoe shopping, just long constantly for sleep, and the hilight of your week is a Starbucks in Sainsburys!

Parenthood, men should have government health warnings tattooed on their foreheads!

Bagpuss78, cherish your weekend lie ins, and enjoy eating Haagen Dazs ice cream without lots of other spoons being grabbed from the drawer and plunged into your ice-cream pot...

I love the children, but I am exhausted.

DM

*D-M you could apply for a job there! Enjoy your favourite coffees for free and get paid.*

* I am sure Ana could look after the kids. I still have a lactating donkey - this could be an opportunity for a new range of asses milk based coffees that we could introduce to Starbies*

Darling Mr Mikewbate,

It is the relaxation of Starbucks that I enjoy (I have been there twice today already, once at London Bridge and once in Clapham!). I couldn't possibly work there, it would take the fun out of it.

I really don't think I fancy donkey milk latte either to be fair. Perhaps you could corner the market with an ass milk bath on LL? Didn't Cleapatra favour that as a beauty treatment? I don't think I fancy that either, but well, some people like crystals and reiki healing - so I suppose someone might be into it...

Maybe you could rent some space upstairs in Soup Dragon?

DM

Hurrah!!! I will be moving from North London to East Dulwich on Saturday & although I do not know where the Sainsburys is in relation to Barry Road I look forward to exploring my new home & surrounding areas. I am rather partial to the gingerbread thingammy latte & a Rocky Road biscuit :-$

& please someone say hi to me I know I am technically still a Nth Londoner until Saturday but I have posted a few times on here now & not heard a peep back.... :'(

Dear Giddygecko,

Welcome to Dulwich darling! It is just super, and with our branch of Starbucks returning - virtually paradise. I think we should all meet up in there when the coffee shop opens in order to christen it. I shall buy you a gingerbread drink and rocky road biscuit to welcome you here myself.

DM

Awwwwwwwww thanks DM. I am really looking forward to moving into the area (almost all packed) van is coming at 10am tomorrow. I wish I could go to the Dulwich fair on Sunday but I am working 10-6 so not possible. However I will have an explore the following weekend.

You all sound like a really noice bunch of peeps so looking forward to chatting & meeting some of you.

Cheers GG

    • Hello, Recently there have been various comments made on the forum which have resulted in heated discussions being had. I for one, hold up my hand and wanted to personally thank whoever is keeping the forum going.. remember when it was likely to close. We are all adults and should known when it is right to continue or just ignore or if really feel it necessary comment via pm. I have had a long relationship with the forum and have bought, sold, offered advice and in deed made friends on the forum over the years. It is a public forum after all and everyone is entitled to express their opinion and is also free. I am not as tech minded as most but with the season of good will approaching and-knowing in this economic climate how many people are  struggling, I  thought it would be a lovely idea, to perhaps set up a just giving page to raise funds for a local charity who might appreciate a contribution towards their Christmas festivities… On a practical side, might just be to complicated to administer as I am sure all have charities that we support so my other thought was not me, as I am useless but to set up a just giving page and whatever monies are raised, perhaps contribute to the festivities that use to be run by local shops or whatever.. Maybe even use a local church hall and just make it special for perhaps folk that find it difficult to access events or no access for say wheel chair users.. guess really, one is looking for guidance from the church and of course volunteers. Shoot me down if you must or feel the need but this is my view and no, sadly I won’t be around in the months before Christmas but can help remotely.
    • Hi all Does anyone know someone who can make a window seat cushion and cover? See image of window seat. Thank you.
    • Don't know why but it seems like there have been impromptu fireworks since early September. At one point I even wondered if there was a shooting range or something like that over Dulwich Hamlet way- the direction where the firework sounds seem to be coming from? Is there some kind of new, fireworks craze going on and where are people getting them, out of season?
    • Hello, I have your cat!!! I can't find a contact number but mine is 07845 277923.
