They're probably caf?s rather than cafes.

> Anyway, cafes who put a blob of basil pesto on tomatoes in a side salad

Just wanted jump on this and say: cafes and retailers that think salad is just scattered veg and loose leafs with a bit of garlic sauce.

NO! You're meant to *slice* the veg - you lazy cunts - into small pieces and there should be bits of cucumber, cabbage, tomatoes, rocket, and celery in it. Jumble it up and add a bit of lemon juice and/or olive oil -- that's a bloody salad.

Add sweetcorn or feta or whatever the hell you want to it after that, just at least do me the courtesy of the first part.

Whilst we're on the subject of cafes, we stayed at my mum's last night and went for a fry this morning.

First port of call was the place by the Clarke's shoe shop, but it was rammed. So ended up in the Dulwich Cafe by the Palmerston.

Was never a fan of the place 10 years ago, and it hasn't improved. Proper shit cafe.

And the wife said she had easily the worst bubble she'd ever eaten.

if it's an old school caf? you're looking for Otta, you can't beat the Uplands caf? (formerly the Ideal Caf?) locally.

Anyway, back on subject - what gets my goat is people changing their forum names and then trying to work out who they were in a former guise.

Don't the people changing their names remember who they were before, then?

Sorry :))

"I was a huge fan when it was Ideal, but last time I went there it was crap. But maybe just a bad day.

To be honest I am very very rarely in Dulwich at the sort of time I'd need a cafe, so not a big deal, but was disappointed this morning."

I think it may have been a bad day Otta. It's OK in there, he just wants to keep it a cor-blimey greasy.

Maybe give it another go..

Otta can I put my tuppence worth in and recommend a cafe miles away not many people will have heard of or visited in Dulwich but it comes highly bloody recommended. Mus's Cafe at Brockley Cross it's a classic old school caf. The bubble is amazing, the staff are friendly and the food is always freshly cooked and to a good standard. They sometimes offer free refills I've noticed too.

Louisa.

Eldest daughter got student loan and after 20 years managed to pay it off, Youngest daughter still paying hers 18 years later. Granddaughter - still paying after 6 years. Grandson decided against FE and secured an apprentenship. I am glad that I am an old codger and not young anymore !

    • It is not only Southwark - our grandson, partner and 7 year old had a one bed council flat for years in Harlow Essex and all the properties offered were in poor condition. They eventually took a property as if they refused another one they would drop to the bottom of the Housing List. It was damp and in need of a level of renovation. Having lived in these conditions for a while they were offered better council accommodation recently, but further away from child's school. They had to pay 2 lots of rent for a few weeks as council had to undertake work in the new premises before they could move in,
    • Just had an interior decorating job done by Andy. The final outcome looks lovely and he did some remedial work at the same time to fill in gaps in the ceiling (due to previous electrical work) and to remediate any similar areas to ensure a polished overall look. Would highly recommend him for any similar job, he quoted a very reasonable price for the job as well. Thanks Andy!
