Oh I can't insert the damn image. I have the hangover from hell today. I went to the filming of that BBC chef thingy last night at The Rosendale and had a fairy sized portion of carpaccio starter and two bottles of wine in three hours. We left in case we descended into a diabetic coma or drunken stupor.
Well to be honest, I would not recommend it at all. I adore fine dining, but it felt like the intention wass never really to feed the audience - simply to get them drunk and loosen their tongues enough to make good TV. They were practically sitting in people's laps to film them. Everyone was very nice, but in three hours we got the tiniest slices of French stick, lots of vino, and a tiny starter. I was considering eating my handbag...

Well I've been reading this thread and it's turned out to be quite amusing but in the arse end of my natural soul I've been fighting with a feeling that as much as they try they'll never make the grade. Ms T came very close but then the trail went cold. I think you'll all agree that there can only ever be one Mr potatohead whose name will be echoed through the passage of time. Ladies and gentlemen will you join me in greeting the one, I give you..............

It wasn't free, but the wine list they distributed was not the usual one. A lot of the wine on it came in at around the ?15 mark and was cheap, jammy, high alcohol plonk. I went straight from work and had no lunch or breakfast so I was weak with hunger, as was my darling man (despite the fact that he had probably eaten his own body weight for lunch). I wouldn't go to something like that again, because I must admit that despite the fact I love fine dining, this felt as though it was not about the food at all. It was a nice offer to place the invitation on the forum, but I think it was about getting people drunk and leaving them starving (you couldn't even buy bar snacks) and hoping that they would say things that could make good TV.

They had warned that there could be a wait for the food (to be fair), but three hours from 6.45, and only a starter with no possibility of anything else to snack on, mid-week when people were clearly coming straight from work, was just dreadful. I am still not the better of that. I doubt any of the diners managed to stay sober.

    • As I said, it was my understanding. I worded it very carefully. I didn't/don't know for sure, so clearly not a fact. And hardly an "opinion", which is something completely different. You have no idea what reason anybody might have had for not voting for him (unless you can point to some opinion poll results which actually asked people?)
    • Also, just to add, the threat to kill someone's dog and try to kick it, is an additional extremely unpleasant layer. I have noticed a lot of the burst water balloons lying around in the park too- that is not great for the environment either.
    • I’m basing it on the fact that Jeremy Corbyn had repeatedly and on record said he is against mandatory vaccinations in any situation, and he wouldn’t disclose wether he had the Covid vaccine himself    as I said. Not as bad as his brother but very definitely a bit weird about the whole thing. Just say you had the vaccination Jeremy, say that everyone should and stop being weird in the middle of a global pandemic    it’s the same slippery evasive nonsense about Brexit and him. About Putin poisonings and him.     if you are happy with his evasiveness then you do you.  But there is a reason the country wouldn’t get behind him
