Lovely blog Ruth! Hanging in the balance at the mo whether I can make the fair as the outlaws are staying but will make some flapjacks anyway, just let me know when/ where to deliver them Annt. Also, have some patterned and flowery bunting (!) which we could hang around our table/stall if we so desired....

The blog looks great Ruth.

Annt let me know if cakes need dropping off anywhere as I'm not about that weekend and I'll get them to you or someone else if needs be.

Loving the bunting, I should have guessed that would be the sort of thing you'd have lying around mumra!

Hiya

So Mark has kindly allowed space in the forum tent at the festival for a table of cakes from the WI. It might be better for someone who is actually going to be there on the day to communicate further with him about how that is going to work. As you may have understood from an earier post it does not seem possible for us to have a dedicated WI bit of the forum (although it doesnt stop us from using it).

I feel a bit weird posting here, as if i'm going to be smothered from behind with an estrogen soaked cloth and my unconscious body dumped outside of the thread, but..

Click on Mark's name, he's got a post earlier on this thread. Then you'll find blue link that says 'Send A Private Message' this will take you through to the private message (PM) section, just like email really but soley for this forum.

Hi annt

see where it says Posted by: Mark Today...

click on Mark and you'll see my profile, at the bottom there's a link that says 'Send A Private Message', click on that and send me a message (it's refered to as PM'ing on the forum e.g. "PM me")

Anyway I'll PM you and send you my number so you can call me

cheers

Mark

Hi all,

Just been away but last Friday I visited the Magdala to have a look at the upstairs space they are letting us use once a month for free. I met with John - who although is not Reg - the owner! - is pretty much in control of everything and so has said to go through him from now on. He also is more than happy for us to use the space for free but unfortunately - now having spread the word abotu the first Tuesday of every month it can't be a Tuesday. As they have the pizza offer, which I know several of you were quite excited about, they are very busy and so couldn't o=afford to give us a member of staff upstairs. However Wednesday is no problem at all (Tuesday/Thursdays are Salsa. So change of plan - can everyone make Wednesday the 6th June as the first meeting and then the first Wednesday of every month from then on. If you could all post onto the forum whether this would work for you then I can get back in touch with John and confirm it. Wednesday is definitely a good mid-point evening - as in its all easy downhill to the weekend after that.

Lucy - I hope that means that Thelma can still make it?

Love

Katie

Hi everyone

Just a quick note to let you know that we've now set up an EDWI group at Google Groups, so we can keep all the emails, files etc in one place.

If you haven't yet received an invitation to join the group, please visit: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/edwi to join.

Then all we need to do to email everyone is send an email to [email protected]

You can also elect to receive each email as it arrives, receive one daily email with a digest of all that day's emails, or read the emails only on the web.

If anyone needs any help, please get in touch.

    • Watching my cats over the years with foxes, I've found that foxes have totally ignored them. One exception was when a young fox hadn't seen my cat and found himself eye to eye with my cat at a distance of 1 metre. There was a stand off but the fox blinked first and my cat chased him out of the garden. So proud of her. I believe when foxes have attacked cats, the cat has been vulnerable  - old, young, ill wounded.
    • It's also possible that someone is hand feeding foxes and encouraging them by this to approach others. I have heard of foxes attacking young children (if only anecdotally) but not adults. They do seem to attack cats.
    • I've noticed the foxes are very frisky at the moment, it's mating season. Perhaps it was a male fox who saw you as a danger to his vixen and wanted to see you off.
    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
