[i have to be careful, as I have had a post deleted and a warning given on this thread already- this is a general point & ( Mr Admin ) not directed at any particular business]

MY point is obvious - Pubs are not of much benefit to the community these days - the days of a husband & wife team in a local corner pub providing a Eastenders kind of meeting place are long gone. the Victorians knew the benefit of having this type of establishment on most streets and incorporated them into their gand plans

Opportunistic bar developments like we see on LL of late posess no such nobility - they are a blunt instrument to make as much money as possible & have a detrimental effect on the local area - those Saturday night victims from Penge add nothing to the ambience of LL and make the resident lives althogther poorer

Downsides far far outweight the upside of having ( another ) bar on the lane.

If you consider this objectively & take emotion & right wing free marketry rubbish out of it - Who would truly welcome the opening of a business that is likely to destroy the relative tranquility of locals lives?

I am sure various offended business owners will send in tbheir complaints to admin on and , some may even have to gall to post ( unlikely ) but IMO, whatever case they put is indefensable

so there

Stinking Screaming Pram. Thanks TheXWinglessXBird., the perfect name for my up-coming punk/prog project.

Keep 'em coming. That's the album title.

"I doubt there would be too many prams in bars on LL in the evening as the venues probably don't have a licence for that beyond 7 or 8pm, do they?"

No, I suppose not. Actually, I had caf? Nero in mind & brought up a bad experience. I haven't had the time to check out this new bar. Anyway...

Is it Boho or Hobo?

Oi XWinglesXBird stop being so dithery, front up with some proper 'tude girlfriend.

How else will I source names for my future musical projects?

That may or may not exist.

Get with the scene, as we Bohos insist on having it.

Elephant/sparrow, both animals. Both fine.

Unless the elephant decides to take a 'piggy-back' of the sparrow.

Elephants being the dopiest lumbering schmucks of the animal world, they'd likely as not do it, the gormless f*ckbuckets that they not only look, but probably are.

Anyway, it'll all end up in a smashed sparrow and a slightly confused looking elephant.

More confused looking than they usually are. They are dozy looking aren't they? Elephants.

W*nkers.

I'm not even being dithery. I don't even know why I'm about to explain why, given that you just pooped out 7 posts of crap. Somebody has way too much time on their hands.

The topic is about bars NOT coffee houses, otherwise I probably would have given out full blown attitude. I could bitch all day about the hippies of East Dulwich (& village).

    • We ate at Viet Flavours last night - the quality is excellent - home made noodles, generous portions, really fresh, high quality chicken - totally delicious.  We had the tasting menu which was actually very good value for money - lots to eat and we left stuffed. Run by the lovely Anne and her family, we will certainly be back to support this great new option to the high street.
    • Thanks Peckham Rose for reminding us that Southwark Events Team are just as responsible as Gala for the damage to the park.   I was not aware that Cllr Hamvas was Chair of Licensing. Isn't the Rye in her constituency? Surely, despite her role, she could object to the state the park has been left in. In fact, how can any of our local councillors ignore it?
    • I can definitely recommend AFE Plumbing services. i had a leaking tap in the kitchen and Aria came out the next morning to identify the problem and bring a new tap to replace the old tap and get it all working very quickly. Aria is a very helpful individual who will always do his best to solve a problem for you.
