In a few spare bits of Christmas I managed Cormac McCarthy's - The Road. Maybe not the best thing to read when you've just become a dad again...or maybe it is? Gripping and impacttful, althpough a bit bleak!

I've just read The Scottsborough Boys by Ellen Feldman. It reminds me of just how extraordinary it is that a black man can be democratically elected to be President such a short time after these kinds of attitudes prevailed.

I read, The Road a while ago when it came out, I like C Mc & this didn't dissapoint , though bleak & hellish as it was ( it's a perverse pleasure reading any C Mc )

I am about to re-read Eric Newby's ( I read it 15 years ago & I want to see what's changed in the world/culture map )
