Oh it is difficult for one to say, as I, like you, tend to migrate toward East Dulwich on those rare occassions when I am able to venture out.

I do apologise for assumming you don't give custom to dear Camberwell regularly. Foolish of me. Why don't we reverse the question and give you platform for telling us all the wonderful places you frequent here? We do have a new French bistro, apparently. Quite good I'm told.

Oh I am sorry. I must follow the rules, of course. I guess my heart sinks when I see the architectural gems that are the finest in the area (they certainly beat East Dulwich) covered and coated in muck and garbage. Underneath it all is a proud past now drowned out by such horrible noise.

What is that pub up in Walworth, down a side turning near Arments & next to the theatrical set building place that backs onto the estate ?

Do you know it

Now that is a sh1thole of a place, had a funny few times in there though.

looked in the A-Z (what a book eh ) it's on Westmoreland rd/Queens row ( funnily enough )

W**F

Walworth?! Now I know you are winding one up. As South London goes, and we're talking urban (as opposed to our suburban enclaves), The Prince of Wales in Cleaver Square is good for a drink and boules, if desired. Otherwise, travel north or out to suburbia (Lordship Lane springs to mind).

    • Certainly the infamous (and mythical) SE London cat killer turned out to be foxes attacking dying and dead cats injured by cars, but fox: cat encounters do appear to happen, even where cats are victorious. Fox: adult humans less so. At least where foxes are the aggressors.
    • That was very kind of you to take the cat to the vet. Did the car not stop?
    • This is a bit outside our area, but I'm posting in case .... Last night (Sat.20 Dec), around 10.30, we saw a cat hit by a car in St Norbert Road, SE4.  We took him to the out of hours vet in Beckenham, where they confirmed that he had died.  They will see if he is microchipped, and contact the owner if so.  They were very kind.   He was a lovely cat, grey and white.  He must have died very quickly.  So sorry to be the bearer of bad news 😞 The vet is Medivet in Beckenham, tel: 0208 650 2003.
    • Watching my cats over the years with foxes, I've found that foxes have totally ignored them. One exception was when a young fox hadn't seen my cat and found himself eye to eye with my cat at a distance of 1 metre. There was a stand off but the fox blinked first and my cat chased him out of the garden. So proud of her. I believe when foxes have attacked cats, the cat has been vulnerable  - old, young, ill wounded.
