colyton road opinions?

It's opposite Peckham Park - so good views. But perhaps 30 minutes walk to nearest train station.

Good spot - I live 100 yards from Colyton on Marmora. It can be a bit of a rat run early am and mid pm. Park is great. It's 20 mins max to the station Honor Oak station (12 mins to London Bridge). The Forest Hill parade is improving - Si Mangia a decent little Italian, Omrith a good Indian. Herne pub is fine with reasonable food. Easy walk / cycle ride to LL for the shops and cool bars.

It has the world's most useless speed bumps. Anyone have any idea why they're so flat?

I live in Ryedale just on the other side of Forest Hill Road. I like the area for all the reasons MM says. Co Op is also very handy.. it now does fresh bread and has a very good wine selection.

Not forgetting Cafe 2010 which does the best coffee in ED (IMO).

It has 'flat' bumps because the Morrison lorries from the depot requested them to be deflated apparently, till their work is done, then they'll be reflated and the traffic lights taken away.......... and there's that flyin' pig again!

I live round the corner from Colyton on Peckham Rye SE15 side. It is a FABULOUS place to live and the park is spectacularly achingly beautiful and is actually my front garden, but I'll let you wonder round it if you don't nick the plants!

The guy in the co-op is very friendly & has the most amazing pair of Freddy Mercury style gnashers...great bottle openers!!!

Re speed humps in Colyton Road: as I was told, they were reduced to prevent vibrations in the local houses.

Indeed the vibration to local houses will reduce if the bumps are not there when the lorries from the waterworks lorries thunders by.

Wasn't there recently a house up for sale on that road for ?2 million? Highest recorded sale price on Colyton Road was in 2007 for just under ?1m. There are a variety of house types on that road so it's difficult tibby, to judge whether 625k is a bargain.

The coop bread is not fresh - is part baked off-site and finished off in store in some ovens out back. Mind you they could probably cook them on the shelf it's so hot inside. Colyton Rd is great, even better when the lorries are gone.

Yes did mean 2050 and yes I'm sure they haven't got a fully functioning bakery in the coop, but it's still nicely finished off.
