Maurice
Oh calm down. 'Tis a terrible tradgedy and let's be fair, the East Dulwich Forum broke this horrible story, regardless of which thread. The poor Camberwell Forum still has not a word. It has made world news yet poor Camberwell folks haven't got a clue. I'm grateful the EDF told me what was going on before anyone and I live not far from the scene! Sherwick
We all know that Camberwell isn't East Dulwich - thanks for the reminder. However, this is one of the most devastating fires in London that I can remember - 3 young children dying? Can't remember one as bad as that before in London. And it happened on our (i.e. ED's) doorstep.Frankly, I think it's pretty shocking that it was moved from the main forum. Maurice
I fear it is you who is being arrogant. To suggest the "main" forum is more important, because it is about things in East Dulwich, is just silly. The story has simply been filed appropriately. No one filing folder is more important than the other. There is no "main" forum. Repeating details of the tradgedy doesn't make you more humane. What a silly argument. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6897-fire-at-north-peckham-estate/page/2/#findComment-221148 Share on other sites
Asset
It's a terrible thing to happen. I don't give a flying fuck whioch section of the forum it's in. Get some perspective you guys that are having a beef about that! AllforNun
I absolutely agree with Sherwick.I think ED is serviced by the same council executives that service Camberwell and that is in fact the point, have you thought about any of the other social housing estates around ED or have you wiped them from your mind people....here's an extract from the Independents blog"many southwark council high rise blocks have very rudimentary fire systems. no sprinklers, no alarms, no emergency lighting etc. in our block John Kennedy House some fire doors are missing and others are badly defective. Cllr Stanton sends his sympathy but we need Southwark Council to provide the very best level of safety for all residents. Hawkstone Estate (Southwark) residents are shocked by the tragedy at Havil Street. Our hearts go out to residents at Havil Street with our deepest sympathy for their loss. At the same time we fear for our own safety. Fires do happen in Southwark high rise and we try our best to stop BBQ's on balconies and roofs although the Council are pretty useless on that in our area. Also bulk refuse continues to pile up as the Council cut back on collections. When a T&RA has to call in the local Borough Fire Commander to get improvements and enforcement there is something really wrong. Jerry Hewitt, Secretary Hawkstone Tenants & Residents Association."The problem here is this forum is very big now and it needs to recognise that fact; we have all contributed to that. Keef
Well done AFN for turning a thread about a tragic fire, in to another chance to use the same old lines about ED, and the EDF. And then to start getting nasty to someone for picking you up on it. Class.Just no need for it, especially not on here. For my part by the way, I agree that this thread could have stayed in the main section, where there is more serious discussion. It wouldn't have been the first non ED specific thread to have stayed there, and given the subject, I don't think it would have hurt. Keef
and given the subject, I don't think it would have hurt.Especially when the main section has a thread about a man with a fecking suitcase!PeckhamRose, I suspect AFN would enjoy the fact s/he'd (I think she) been forum martyred by the do gooder liberals of ED. intexasatthe moment
Umm ,last few posts all seem a bit off topic.Just reading in paper that people not being allowed back into their homes in Lakanal House. How awful for them ,fire bad enough and now they're going to have to cope with not being allowed back .Or will the police let them return to collect stuff ?I guess Southwark must have a team dealing with this emergency, wonder how they're coping ,providing practical support etc? sophiesofa
At least Southwark sounds like it's doing all it can to help. Such a tragic event.P.S. Maurice
Alan you also have to give credit for the East Dulwich Forum breaking this story and providing more helpful information and comments than anyone in Camberwell did. Regardless of 'where' it was posted, people found it and it was helpful. No one in Camberwell has been as helpful, or quick. I, for one, am grateful.
