The worst bits of cliquiness that do from time to time emerge on here.

I admit that CC, is one of my best mates in the real world, and I know he posted this when really drunk at 2:30 in the morning, that is why I laughed, because it was a funny rant.

I do think he would have been better just sticking to the housing thread rather than starting this.

I know what you're saying about going against the liberal norm, and questioning immigration. In fact, people like myself and Jeremy supported some of these questions, Tony just went a bit OTT with it, and held on to it like a dog with a bone.

Tony has never said anything overtly racist, but A LOT of people have raised questions about whether or not he is. Personally, I have no idea if he is a racist, or just an old school white Londoner, but I can see why people have made assumptions.

When I first saw Tony's user name, and where he lived, I admit to immediately labelling him as a racist flamer. Since then, he has become quite a big part of the forum (for better or worse), and I think I was hasty. I do however think that he doth protest too much on occasion.

Sometimes he makes me laugh though.

Tony.London.Suburbs will also not be banned for comments to date*. He has been warned before for taking discussions off topic hence he cannot post outside the Lounge. He has also been warned for not reporting an offensive and illegal post and instead saying "Admin will get into trouble for this, let's see how long it'll take to be removed". That mockery is not in the spirit of the forum.

At the end of the day, if one person is spoiling the forum for lots of people then action will be taken, but people have to let me know their thoughts. I have had about six complaints about Tony.London.Suburbs in in the last six months, which is borderline and the situation is being monitored.

Please remember it is not about censorship, is is about dealing with individuals who make the forum an unfriendly and unwelcoming place. That is not what I want the forum to be.

*However if he refers to me as mate or mucker he will be.

SteveT will not be banned for comments to date.

Tony.London.Suburbs will also not be banned ......................

Hooray for our Administrator we have top quality management, only in my humble Daily Mail biggotted opinion of course.

I am still waiting to get a reply from CrystalClear and LegalEagle-ish on the alleged inflammatory remarks I made on the Housing immigrants thread.

I am a very patient man, well in this case anyway.

Very clever Santerme, especially given CrystalClear's foul-mouthed tirade

I have written less than ten lines in total on that housing thread, so I can understand why you 'can't be arsed trawling through all that garbage'.

I think I can say that I have never read through an entire TLS post. It's the form and content argument, the structure and style of his prose entirely obscures any meaningful point he wants to make. Read everyone else's responses and you know precisely what Tony has said.

Actually, you can pretty much just read Tony's username and you know...

I've read through some of his posts, if they seem coherent and normal a quick Google search shows that he's copied it from somewhere and tried on pass it off as his own. Tony didn't like the fact that I pointed it out a couple of times, and then he made out that I'd committed the crime.

    • Post much better this Xmas.  Sue posted about whether they send Xmas cards; how good the post is,  is relevant.  Think I will continue to stay off Instagram!
    • These have reduced over the years, are "perfect" lives Round Robins being replaced by "perfect" lives Instagram posts where we see all year round how people portray their perfect lives ?    The point of this thread is that for the last few years, due to issues at the mail offices, we had delays to post over Christmas. Not really been flagged as an issue this year but I am still betting on the odd card, posted well before Christmas, arriving late January.
    • Two subjects here.  Xmas cards,  We receive and send less of them.  One reason is that the cost of postage - although interestingly not as much as I thought say compared to 10 years ago (a little more than inflation).  Fun fact when inflation was double digits in the 70s cost of postage almost doubled in one year.  Postage is not a good indication of general inflation fluctuating a fair bit.  The huge rise in international postage that for a 20g Christmas card to Europe (no longer a 20g price, now have to do up to 100g), or a cheapskate 10g card to the 'States (again have to go up to the 100g price) , both around a quid in 2015, and now has more than doubled in real terms.  Cards exchanged with the US last year were arriving in the New Year.  Funnily enough they came much quicker this year.  So all my cards abroad were by email this year. The other reason we send less cards is that it was once a good opportunity to keep in touch with news.  I still personalise many cards with a news and for some a letter, and am a bit grumpy when I get a single line back,  Or worse a round robin about their perfect lives and families.  But most of us now communicate I expect primarily by WhatApp, email, FB etc.  No need for lightweight airmail envelope and paper in one.    The other subject is the mail as a whole. Privitisation appears to have done it no favours and the opening up of competition with restrictions on competing for parcel post with the new entrants.  Clearly unless you do special delivery there is a good chance that first class will not be delivered in a day as was expected in the past.   Should we have kept a public owned service subsidised by the tax payer?  You could also question how much lead on innovation was lost following the hiving off of the national telecommunications and mail network.
