Hi

I was just wondering which car seat people went for for the next size up. We currently have the Maxi Cosi Cabrio but having used a forward facing car seat in a taxi yesterday, my son (7 momths old) was so much happier. Having a quick look online but the one used in the taxi yesterday has awful reviews.

Any suggestions?

We've gone from the seat you have to a Maxi Cosi Priori XP for both of our children, they're good. Although to be honest I would say 7 months is too young to be moving to forward facing... if you do a search on carseats a previous thread on this subject will come up which contains links you should read before making your decision.

My daughter has just moved into a forward facing seat at 13 months, with both of my children I've kept them rear facing as long as possible for safety reasons.

Hi Im, we have the Maxi Cosi Priori and the clasp is SO fiddly, takes me ages to get Iris strapped in. And yes, one strap is always twisted round. However, it only takes Lou seconds to do, so must be something to do with my sausage fingers!!

She does look very comfy and happy in it.

Our son is (a big) 9 months old so when it was becoming fast obvious that he wasn't happy in his Cabriofix I started researching the next one up. Was pretty set on the Priorifix (safety first in my book) but after doing lots of research we have settled on the Kiddy Comfort Pro. They demo and sell at Baby Nest in Croydon and are wonderfully helpful. Cannot be more pleased with the car seat - it works differently to others but is much lighter (meaning when we go on holiday we can take it with us) and just as safe as the Priorifix (according to Which).

Which? website recommends Kiddy Infinity Pro, Maxi Cosi Priorifix and Britax Duo Plus (Isofix) in the 9 to 18kg group, and Britax Kidfix Isofix, Maxi Cosi Rodi XR and Britax Kid Plus in the 15 to 36kg group. There's more but I just listed the top three in both categories.

Hope this helps.

We had Maxi Cosi Priori XP and our son loved it. I never had any problems with the straps either. As I understand the Maxi Cosi Tobi is very similar to the Priori, however it's higher and hence fits better on SUVs etc. We loved our Maxi Cosi and bought the Rodi as the next step.
I have looked at Which? Magazine video showing their independent tests on car seats and they horrified me. The dummies has smashed skulls on impact at only 20 mph. The seat they recommend is the Kiddy Infinity - the only one which apparently kept the baby alive! So that's what i've ordered for my boy who is just turned 8 months. If you want to watch the video you can get a ?1 trial to the mag. Hope this helps.

    • Been with The Gardens now for around 30 years and very rarely do I have a problem. I went in to collect a form and mentioned that my leg was hurting and hot- was seen immediately by the Practice nurse who then arranged an appointment on the Saturday with the Extra care service at TJ Centre where I saw a doctor, who then sent me off to Kings for further tests.. I recently booked a flu jab but appointment is in 2 weeks.
    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
    • Another shout out for Milk & More - their app allows you to alter the order, add or subtract to it and also to schedule holiday stops without having to leave messages in bottle - so more secure. You do have to set up a direct debit with them, but I haven't had any problems with that myself. I have had one or two missed or late deliveries in several years, but not really a problem - only very occasional and caused mainly by delivery-person illness. And very much feels like an old-fashioned milk delivery. They do special seasonal offers as well. More expensive than the cheapest of the super market milk prices, but for that its at your door, fresh and no bother.
