Anyone know when the rubbish vans are next coming around? We've been forced to fill our brown bin due to green one being full and now that's full also. It's at least 3 weeks since they last collected!

Hi nutty,

Where do you live.

All normal rubbish and recyclnig collections are meant to be proceeding. The only collections not proceeding are brown bins (garden waste) ones and bulk refuse collections - the staff have been diverted to help with regular rubbish and recycling collections which are taking longer than normal.

Tell me your address and I'll ensure they get to you asap - and empty the brown bin that you've used for regular rubbish.

Re rubbish - you can ring Southwark Council and tell them you had a missed collection. 0207 525 2000 They send out someone within 2 days. Same for recycling.

we have had the last two weeks missed on a wednesday, altho the recycling bins were taken...there is refuse hanging out everywhere, there normally terrific but so far 2010 is not so good.

Our rubbish on landells road hasn't been coolected for at least a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed for this sat!!

Hi tommy,

Adys Road forms the borders between two other wards - South Camberwell and The Lane.

Every year Southwark spends around ?5M on road, pavement and street lighting repairs and upgrades.

Roughly half of that spend is now decided locally by local councillors. So every year each ward has ?33,333 for road and pavement repairs beyond pot hole filling, each ward also has roughly ?25,000 for street lighting.

For Adys Road you should contact South Camberwell and The Lane councillors and ask them to use some of the ?66,667 that between them they have to spend each financial year.

Re Landells Road,

Rubbish situation is annoying. I have a small wheelie bin as i try to recycle as much as possible. Problem is, there are also 4 people living in my house so when the rubbish isnt collected for 2 weeks, I am overspilling.

Is there a collection tomorrow?

Grit bin russling. I kid you not.

Lambeth Council has had a spate of grit bin thefts. 101 so far. Each grit bin costs over ?165. So that's a lot of money has been stolen. Southwark Council has found that its grit bins get used for rubbish, stolen, etc so relies on a different apporahc of depositing grit to a location as needed - harder to steal a pile of grit than a grit bin.

If you see anyone removing a grit bin do report it via 999.
