Hello,

Was wondering if any of you guys have ever found that there is post waiting for you at the sorting office but that no card has been left? Having a bit of a dispute with an online company who reckon that may be the case, but slack as Royal Mail can be at times, I've never had that situation! I know there are some threads about phone numbers for Silvester Road but due to the technical ineptitude I can't find it? Could anyone help me out?

Cheers guys.

Here you go...

Sorting office phone number

Generally Royal Mail seem pretty good at leaving cards, but I have had a situation where a card was not left, and also one where a blank card was left (both outside East Dulwich). I think if you contact the office and have the correct ID they will let you pick up any packages without a card if you explain the situation.

Thank you very much for this! I tried calling the number but it doesn't seem to be working so might have to call some kind of central number. Really wish things were kept local, I hate sitting in phone queues! But that's enough moaning for one Monday. Thank you!
I went to Silvester Road on Thursday morning for this very reason, but there was no post there. Two things I had been expecting then arrived Friday and Saturday. Both had been somewhere in the system for almost 2 weeks (First class UK). I'm guessing there must be a sizeable backlog.

Recently I bought an item from ebay which never arrived, I'd given up hope after about 10 days,

but the seller suggested that I check with the post office just in case they had it. I went along

to Silvester Road, thinking it was a complete waste of time and there it was! There had been no card

left with us, so I guess from time to time this kind of thing does happen, definitely go and check.

You should all complain, there's no excuse for it, it only takes the postie a minute to write a card and it's causing massive inconvenience.

I've had the opposite - card left, I trek round to the sorting office, and it turns out to be a Viking catalogue :))

I must have a very conscientious postie!

Well here's a new take on things ....

Just got back from work. I have a very small letterbox.

Found on the mat an empty jiffy bag (posted First Class, definitely Royal Mail) and six separate ink cartridges strewn about.

Evidently the postie couldn't get the parcel through the letter box in one go, so used his/her initiative.

Not sure whether to be glad or annoyed ....

our postie always leaves our parcels on the doorstep even though we have asked him not to. and we went away a few weeks ago and expected a parcel to be sat there. it wasnt, i spotted it a week later in the bushes soggy and knackerd from the rain. guess a fox or animal played with it and took it off doorstep. would rather have to go and collect it than this happen.
I've had a couple of issues with posties 'using their initiative' and leaving a couple of packages from Amazon on top of my recycling bin. The first I managed to save, but I was away on holiday for the second... I guess the books are currently being recycled!

hi,

the strike might be a reason. We had a same problem and when went to check out the collection office the guy told us that they were going to be delivering on Sunday due to the strike that week.

No cards were left and they had a 14 day backlog. Hope this helps

Some time ago, so I can't remember - sorry

Ruth

I went in today for a parcel that hadn't arrived (posted on 9th September). No sign of it, and the delivery office man said they are currently delivering parcels which were posted on 20th September, so the backlog seems to be down to 8 days.

Don't know what's happened to my parcel though. Time to go back to the supplier

    • Wow, never had a disappointing meal there since they opened.. guess like every establishment, depends on the chef.. All for allowing an off day - good of you to post.. much better than chains - had awful service at Gail’s for eg..be it cake and tea or a meal.. They are so nice and accommodating..
    • "I tried Viet Flavour and was disappointed.  Their summer rolls especially were not at all good, stodgy and flavourless.  Pho-OK.  I'm hoping it will get better " Back in June I posted as above.  I am glad to report that either the first time I went the restaurant was having an off day, or they have upped their game.  I ordered the same things.  The summer roll was exactly as it should be, and had a lovely dipping sauce. The Pho was delicious.  My brother who was with me wanted to give it 10/10 but I always think you should leave room for improvement so gave it 9/10.  Staff were lovely.  I am so glad because I love Vietnamese food and now think I have a very good one just round the corner.
    • So do I, and I started it!!!  I have changed title.
