Hoo-bloody-rah! At least it means that me and other U E Siders won't have to drag our sorry bods off to the hell that is Co-Op on FHR when we need some (insert everyday foodstuff here, which Co-Op is v unlikely to have anyway). Nectar points, too! Double word score.

Great news - Then I can get a decent bottle of wine near the bus stop on the way home - good stuff.

Just need Tea Amore to open earlier in the morning to get a coffee on the way to work and I'm all sorted on the drinks front.

Do we really need a pound shop in SE22? Penge's main post office is now part of a tacky bargain basement shop where you have to walk through shelves of tat to get to the PO.

Surely the owner can do better than this?

Fallen off the Wagon yet Mick?

Can?t say I can see a Sainsbury?s on the corner being of any use to me.

Granted, I don?t actually know where the food in my house comes from, suffice to say that there seems to be a regular supply, but whenever I do need odds and ends I can generally find them at Val?s.

Sometimes however I do have to go to the horrendous inconvenience of getting off the bus a couple of stops early to go to Green and Blue or Bosman?s and then walk the last ten minutes home.

And there in the last two posts you have ED in a nutshell. A nation divided. (see also posts on CPZs, William Rose, any curry house you care to mention, etc). About the only thing that unites us is the brilliance of SMBJones.
I did start on re-useables ( ask the nappy lady) but my son is such a heavy wetter that I was constantly changing them and he would get leakages. Not nice having to change a damp new born baby quite a few time during the night, I kept it up until he was 5 weeks and he ended up in hospital with a serious UTI. Since we were in hospital for a few days it was disposables, and as he gets through around 15 nappies a day ( I have to change him up to four times in the night alone as his nappies gets very wet and heavy that it starts leaking if I don't and he poos so much also) I have decided to hold off the re-usables until he is weaned in a few months ( I have ittis and tots bots all waiting for to be used!). He shall be my eco warrior but just not right now.
Looks like this place is finally happening. :)-DWonder what will become of the 2 Off Licences either side of it & the Costcutters? When i told the Costcutter Manager of the Sainsburys opening a few months ago his face nearly dropped. They will really have to UP their gain now.Hope they survive the big boys.

xxxxxxx

But we can't all be creative shopkeepers, and some poor person has presumably bought the franchise at Costcutter

    • ''He caused chaos  in this country with his put down of everything British and his many dismal words about the effects of Brexit on this country.'' What utter tosh. Carney had to mitigate the effects of Brexit caused by plastic patriots like Farage. For example, immediately after the 2016 Brexit vote the BoE had to intervene fiscally by dropping interest rates and increasing QE in order to prevent the economy from taking a big hit.  They were unable to prevent the £ from crashing at the time, and it has since been worked out that the effect of that alone caused a circa £900/year hit to each UK household, which equates to the UK @ £450m/week.   There's reams of data out there that shows the economic damage Brexit has caused to the UK. Here's one looking at business investment, admittedly not very sexy but kinda important if you want to achieve economic growth. It's clear to see that prior to 2016 we had reached parity with some of our main rivals, but since then we've flatlined. All that Brexit has achieved is to win the race to the bottom. There's a reason why Farage never brought up Brexit at the last election, he knows himself it hasn't delivered on any of the promises, quite the reverse in fact.  Labour, stupidly, by saying they can make Brexit work have in effect given Farage a Get Out of Jail Free card...
    • I don't remember this! What on earth were people feeding their dogs? Chalk?!
    • How did he "put down everything British"? Please give examples! And as for "the effects of Brexit on this country", do you think he was wrong? What exactly do you think are the positive effects of Brexit on this country?
