When a song attempts to be a 'tour-de-force' (as many Springsteen songs do) it'll sound over-blown and pompous should it fail to engage the listener. And the more elaborate the production the more pompous it'll seem. Contrast 'Thunder Road' with another song on an epic scale such as 'Sympathy For The Devil'- the pared-down sound induces the kind of visceral reaction that Brucey could only dream of, without all the faffy production.


Still, it's all down to personal preference though.

No Woof, it's about a massive rep for artists without a decent body of work to justify it- not the odd dodgy song.

Oh also Neil Tennant


His voice reminds me of a cheap travel hair drier on medium speed.

He's not that different in person either.


Oh and Hugh Cornwell is a cock, he had a badly cut hairy burgundy tweedy jacket on (not a crime in it's self ) when I met him last, but it was his refusal to talk about or even acknowledge his part or time with the "Strangler" that did it for me.

I think Robbie is overrated. Unfortunately my best friend is begging me to get her 2 tickets for Robbie at the Roundhouse AND go with her. Give me a frigging break.


I don't mind Take That though. Jason Orange once brushed against me in a very tightly packed bar and I STILL get a shiver thinking about it. Yummie.

Do not underestimate the power of yellow sub. My two year old loves it, as a result of which she was wandering around sainsburys the other day singing the chorus to Hey Bulldog! One of my proudest moments.

I'm afraid to say that they didn't. They had one of those new-fangled cassette players that ran on electricity. Not something I'd imagine you're familiar with Jah. Seeing as the disco's you would've gone to were illuminated with gas lamps, along with the DJ playing the spoons.

      People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.

      Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o

      My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
