hmm...i'd be surprised if 'east dulwich forum' had been copywritten (is that a word?).

still, lest i incur admin wrath, how about a nice and simple

#edulwich or #eastdulwich instead?

so to the twitterverse: if you're tweeting about local issues, observations, events, anything to do with e dulwich at all, please use hashtags above.

You can use #eastdulwichforum as a hashtag on Twitter, and there's not much a megalomanic admin can do about it, fact fans, seeing as it's essentially as transient as a sand-painting / yesterday's chip papers.

whilst there may be an intellectual property issue on something like Facebook (and good luck contesting that legally, anyway), hastagging doesn't actually create a 'destination' as such.

it needs a global brand name for you to think "hey if I had spent 3 years building up a name and a presence on;y for it to have some control assumed by someone who has been registered for 2 days! I'd be a teeny bit cross"???

Why?

If the name means so little to you, pick another one

It's just a hashtag on Twitter. I can't see it's a big deal for Admin. The Facebook example was because someone was going to set up, to all intents and purposes, a replacement Forum - and I can see that Admin would have an issue with that, in case his sponsors and local companies etc thought it was to do with him.

A hastag on Twitter just aggregates posts around a common theme. It may even drive traffic to the Forum, which is presumably good for Admin/Mark.

I'm just saying that you just aren't able to 'control' Twitter like that - to think you can is missing its point entirely.

I'm not suggesting someone set up another EDF full of hateful bile, I'm talking about Twitter hashtags specifically.

Seems overly-precious.

The 'tone' of this place is a melting pot of the useful and handy through to the irrelevant, mininformed and downright stupid - there's hardly a 'brand' to ruin is there, given that it is made up of about 8,000 different opinions.

Hey, don't dis the Drawing Room, Quids.

Right now there's an in depth discussion of the morality and ethics of robot porn going on.

And, as I've already said, I wasn't suggesting there was any legal issue with using the forum's name, just that is might be a courtesy to run it by admin.

Why so angry thebestnameshavegone?

It's not an issue! Hash tags usually emerge from the zeitgeist on their own and people tend to settle on one. I think 5imon was just trying to suggest a common one now to speed things up. #eastdulwich is probably the most straightforward, when tweeting about East Dulwich.

    • We are talking Sunday not Saturday! Is Saray the one opposite Brockwell Park? Think it is - always quiet when we have been there but we eat early - forgot that one. Thanks. Food was ok not bad not good but staff are nice - that was six  months ago. Ohh excellent as you are a veggie too.. Will check out Dai Due Fratelli - thanks. No Thai I am referring too is up a few shops from Oxfam Book Shop…
    • I think the Italian you are talking about was the old pizza place which is now closed and chicken shop in it's place? There is a nice Thai restaurant called Chern Thai on Grove Vale that should be open at lunchtime Saturday. I am veggie too btw. Peachy Goat in Herne Hill is good, but depends on the ask as it's kinda burgers and pasta and not the cheapest. I tried the Turkish in Herne Hill, Saray, round the corner Saturday before last and will be quiet but the owner is super sweet and it's not expensive. If you are happy with pizza / pasta, you could also do Dai Due Fratelli which is good food, friendly and attentive service at good prices on Lordship Lane.
    • Thanks pinkeyes - not what we are looking for lunch on Sunday. Prob saved Eats Dulwich time too! umm not sure what to do about Love Dulwich - gather guys and staff that ran it no longer do— not impressed with bloke I spoke to and doubt it will be busy on Sun - would love to be proven wrong ….. just have a bad vibe but we will see. Never had a problem with Vietnamese place as been there many time - but not for six months - might just trot down on Sat and see if staff are still the same. Johnnies have new team as well! Gail’s closed - that is not a surprise as was going down hill when I last went. Well folks, can anyone suggest anywhere else? That offers more than a green or mixed salad for my vegetarian folk? Can be Asian or Thai as well - anyone been to the place on Half Moon Lane near Bookshop or has that changed hands as well.. Might just settle for pizza in West Dulwich along Rosendale Road unless they have changed chef and hands. Must be somewhere in East Dulwich that caters for the odd vegetarian - maybe not but find it amazing that nothing in East Dulwich.           What is the Italian like in the side road by East Dulwich Station? Think folk have mentioned it was good - no idea what it is called.
    • Yes, that was why I deleted my post! Only not in time, it seems! I realised I had mixed up two restaurants!
