Pickle
I would say pie, but only because I don't know what a "pudding" is that involves meat?! Some weird English thing? Pudding to me is something best served with icecream! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8762-pudding-or-pie/#findComment-266935 Share on other sites

CW1
Venison casserole every time. Much simpler, takes moments to prepare and tastes as if you've spent all day slaving over a hot stove. woofmarkthedog
Individual Pies, rough crust for sure (& egg glazed) in proper old school pie dishesPudding pastry as In Steak & Kidney, too "sweet" with the venison , it needs the right pastry as above but use proper suetRiver cottage "Meat" book has a good recipeCrushed swede mash but drained well as It can be watery, butter & white pepper (shallots in the pie ,halved)), Calvo nero lightly blanched, lightly fried with thin garlic & good olive oil, salt ,lemon.Quince or Medlar jelly/ preserve on the side.Good colours, good textures, tastes ( if you get it right) greatThen drink, Oh what to drink ? but that's another threadGood luckW**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8762-pudding-or-pie/#findComment-267019 Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
I thought pudding was also 'afters'?Like bread and butter pudding (yeuch!) and chocolate pudding (yum) and stuff.Pies are what you put meat in.However, SUET pudding, being steak and kidney or apple and raisin, can be either.Doncha love words?!
