Stephen fitted our two bedroom flat with carpet in October and we can't recommend him enough. He helped us though the entire process, giving great advice and put up with my indecisive carpet choices! Stephen talked us through many options but kept within our stated budget and had no issues with visiting us at home on multiple occasions . The carpet is looking great and only took a long hard days work to fit. Stephen provided a professional and friendly service and I have already recommended him to many of my local friends.

Steven has also just finished carpeting my house in landells road. Not only was he the most competitive but more importantly he was professional, trust worthy and did a superb job ! Would recommend him to anyone. Refreshing after our experiencea with other tradesmen. Laurence

Hi Steve. I've just seen this thread and thought it would be a good opportunity to thank you for the amazing job you did in our new loft conversion and stairs. The carpet looks great and all of our friends have been very complimentary. Thanks also for your help with the Karndean in the new bathroom... you'd never guess it wasn't actual wood! Will certainly be recommending you on!

Cheers

David

Stephen recently fitted a small patch of carpet to our hallway stairs. Beforehand, he spent time explaining what would be suitable and even popped round again to provide samples. He was clear around pricing (and very reasonable too), was quick and tidy whilst fitting and even left us the remnants for future use. Overall, I'd highly recommend him for future work. Thanks again Stephen :)

Another recommendation for Stephen Tozer. We had the carpet in our children's bedroom fitted after a loft conversion and it looks wonderful. He found a great carpet for us, that looks like a much more expensive wool brand that we liked, but is easy to clean and great value. Stephens prices were very clear and the choice of carpets was fantastic.

Another recommendation for Stephen - he fitted our living room carpet recently and it looks totally fantastic, he really took the time to get us the best carpet at a price we could afford.

Stephen's communication is brilliant - we had to order our carpet as it is a huge 5m thing and therefore not in stock at his supplier. Stephen let us know when it was ordered, when it would be delivered, when it was delivered and he fitted us into his schedule so we didn't have to wait weeks for it to be fitted. I was so impressed and really appreciated being so informed every step of the way.

He's also a really nice personable chap! A pleasure to deal with, thanks Stephen :)

Another recommendation for Stephen,

We contacted Stephen after the rave reviews on here and we were not disappointed. A genuinely lovely man, great knowledge and real passion for the project. Stephen spent time with us explaining everything and was really supportive with our indecision and date changes.

I have already recommended Stephen to friends and would recommend him to anyone on here. Our carpets look amazing!

Thanks again Stephen!

Certainly worthy of all the above comments. Stephen fitted a carpet in my hallway, stairs and bedroom yesterday and what a marvellous job he did. After the initial consultation I knew I was in good hands. I picked a sample from a range Stephen brought and we arranged a date. I popped out for a few hours and when I got back I was greeted by an absolutely wonderful sight. Great guy, great job, great value. Can't recommend Stephen enough.

Thank you very much Stephen.

We just had our entire house (5 beds) carpeted by Stephen and he's been nothing short of fantastic. We had found a couple of carpets we liked elsewhere and using his carpet detective skills he managed to source the exact carpets for us significantly cheaper. His fitting costs were very competitive too.

The quality of the workmanship is first rate and he worked very quickly. We wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Another recommendation for Stephen! He recently fitted new carpets in 4 of our rooms and they look and feel great.

We also found Stephen's service invaluable, he was very accommodating with consultation times working around the kids and work etc and really helped us pinpoint our choices from the vast and selection of options in the market.

Excellent from start to finish.

After reading such great recommendations about Stephen via EDF, he came round today to fit the carpet on my stairs and landing. He has done an absolutely sterling job at a very reasonable price.

He is friendly and approachable, knowledgable in his field, and very thorough. Genuine and trustworthy.

I can't recommend him more.

Thanks so much Stephen, and all the best to you.

Stephen has just fitted carpets to our 2 bedrooms. He is a passionate businessman with the human touch, he took me through all the options and didn't do the hard sell on the most expensive option. We are delighted with the results and would definitely recommend him. He had to negotiate moving a lot of furniture which he and his colleague Simon did with a smile! Thank you Stephen.

Stephen came to ours on Friday and fitted the stairs, hallway and kids room with new carpet. He also spent a while explaining the difference of the styles, was straightforward about fees and there was no hard sell at all. The job he has done is brilliant. We are really happy with the colour we picked and how quickly it was done.

Big recommendation from me.

Stephen Tozer is a brilliant carpet fitter and a really nice chap. Stephen fitted carpets in our sitting room, three bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing recently and I can't recommend him highly enough. He was so helpful; guiding us through numerous samples when we couldn't make our minds up, and remained charming and patient throughout! We are so pleased with the quality of his work, he's quick, tidy, courteous and a pleasure to do business with. I'm so glad we found him here on the EDF.
Another positive recommendation for Stephen Tozer. Stephen sourced and expertly fitted carpets for three rooms in my flat and went above and beyond to accommodate a couple of specific requests I had. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get this level of service, flexibility or value from a high street carpet retailer. Thoroughly pleased with the results and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stephen.
Stephen fitted a new stair & landing carpet for us and it looks great. He was perfectly happy for us to source our own carpet and he measured all the nooks & crannies so we could correctly place that order. He communicated well, turned up on time, did the job (for a great price) & cleaned up afterwards. Quite honestly it's the best experience I've had of a workman on the EDF....EVER. And as mentioned above he's a really nice guy too. Many thanks Stephen.

    • Per Cllr McAsh, as quoted above: “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution. " Is anyone au fait with the Clean Air Act 1993, and  particularly with the state of 'Smoke Control' law and practice generally?  I've just been looking  through some of it for the first time and, afaics, the civil penalties mentioned  were introduced into the Clean Air Act, at Schedule 1A, in May 2022.  So it seems that, in this particular,  it's a matter of the enforcement policy trailing well behind the legislation.  I'm not criticising that at all, but am curious.
    • Here's the part of march46's linked-to Southwark News article pertaining to Southwark Council. "Southwark Council were also contacted for a response. "Councillor James McAsh, Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets & Waste said: “One of Southwark’s key priorities is to create a healthy environment for our residents. “To achieve this we closely monitor legislation and measures that influence air pollution – our entire borough apart from inland waterways is designated as a Smoke Control Area, and we also offer substantial provision for electric vehicles to promote alternative fuel travel options and our Streets for People strategy. “We as a council support the work of Mums for Lungs and recognise the health and environmental impacts of domestic solid fuel burning, particularly from wood-burning appliances. “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution.  “This work is being undertaken in collaboration with other London boroughs as part of the pan-London Wood Burning Project, which aims to harmonise enforcement approaches and share best practice across the capital.” ETA: And here's a post I made a few years ago, with tangential relevance.  https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/278140-early-morning-drone-flying/?do=findComment&comment=1493274
    • The solicitor is also the Executor. Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.             The house was lived in until Feb 23, and has been allowed to get like this.
