Hi,

Here's a suggestion for a community spirited version of come Dine with Me (without the TV cameras...)! We could take it in turns to host a home-cooked dinner, which those who attend would pay for. All proceeds to go to the charity of the host's choice. Three benefits: meet new people locally; fund raise for a charity; have a great meal.

Feedback welcome as I would like to get something like this going, with others who would willingly participate.

Sounds good, I am currently in the middle of a version with some friends of mine!

I'd be up for doing a community / local one but I might have to wait a bit as I'm currently in tiny rented accomodation whilst our house is being renovated.... if you carry this on into the summer then I'd love to participate!

Yeah, like I can't wait....

" Oh we had a graet ( sic ) night, Ol'fanny Adams bought a super lasagna, still frozen in the middle a little bit , but the edges were very nice. I bought Chianti and my special tinned sardine stir fry, It went down well ( though came up quickly later )

We raised ?32 in all ( but spent ?60 doing it ) for our favorite cause ( what ever that is this week, is that "jazz town" still half sunk or not ? )" Nice to meet you all, I don't get out much see.

"I think Computedshorty contributes a lot to these forums"

Sorry, but you obviously missed the post where he/she/it/troll admitted that "computedshorty" was simply a role playing character they were trolling everyone with, *sighs* ITT - people who are quick to throw mud without bothering to check out the facts.

TLDR: shorty = troll

Oh

Me, me, me,

I'm in as I like listeria & E.coli ( but not on the same plate, that's greedy )

Oh & Streptococcus , that genus of spherical Gram-positive bacteria belonging to the phylum Firmicutes and the lactic acid " "un-friendly" bacteria group. ...

Mmmm......Huuuuueeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy

What's for afters ?

I don't think you need 10 people - it would probably be too much of a commitment to agree to go to 9 plus your own dinner party and nearly impossible to find 10 dates everyone can commit to. 4 seems to work for the show. Did you search on here for the thread last year, maybe the person who suggested it then would be keen to join in. Good luck.

    • To be fair, a pot of tea for one in a department store is a small pot, and you only get one cup or mug!
    • I know - we have been here lots of times since it first opened,  which is why we were disappointed that it was closed at a time it was supposed to be open, but with no notice to say why! I guess we will just  have to ask the reason at our next visit, but I'm not sure we will risk Saturday lunchtime again unless we find the closure  was an unavoidable one off ....
    • Nope. I don’t have this wrong. I’ve tried to put my point across respectfully, without resorting to personal, angry insults. And all my colleagues agree that the BBC got this right in its condemnation.    All you see is confirmation bias.    If you don’t realise that, then you’re part of the problem.
    • We have always gone during the week at lunch time - great place and good value. Husband has been several times on his own and owner knows his first name. I could not go one time for some reason and she sent him home with some spring rolls (free)
