Missing Tabby from Upland Road - now safely home
boosboss replied to JenniferJ's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Glad he's home. You'll get a good nights sleep now :)) -
For more info on Cleaner, Greener, Safer have a look on the council website or: Nunhead and Peckham Rye Rasita Chudasama Tel: 020 7525 0865

I spoke to Fiona today and although She is ready to open, She can't until EDF energy move an electrical box from outside the cafe, enabling some further finishing work to take place. It's very frustrating, especially for her (and I suspect her pocket)considering this delay is through no fault of hers. Once EDF confirm a date for the works, Fiona will announce the opening date. :))

An ideal project for 'Cleaner, Greener, Safer. :))

Informing people of meetings doesn't make them attend though, does it? As I've given you the information already and despite that you're still intent on either suggesting I'm a liar or insulting me. This will be my last response to your ramblings.:))

I'm a little unsure whether I'm responding to a serious, yet slightly cranky local resident or a forum troll and I'm falling right into your trap! As for your claim that my previous post is almost offensive, you managed to reply with one that omitted the 'almost'. As for the cafe consultation, besides notices in the local media, hand delivered flyers to many, if not most parkside residences, laminated posters displayed throughout the park, announcements at local community council meetings and much word of mouth advertising of the consultation meetings. Short of having a town crier bell ringing and hollering through the streets of ED, Nunhead and Peckham Rye, I struggle to see what further means of informing the community there are. I still maintain that the consultation process was thorough.

Crystal Tips Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I am looking forward to it > and await booboss' next post with interest Apologies for the lack of updates. There is some snagging taking place with the flooring being problematic. I will endeavour to speak to Fiona this week to find out if an opening date has yet been decided on. :))

Luckily your hopes have been realised, Fiona the lady who has the contract does indeed have catering experience. Park users were very well consulted with in the planning and design of the cafe. I, as a park user was on the panel of interviewers for the architects and members of The Friends of Peckham Rye Park Committee were on the interview and selection panel for the contract to run cafe. There were also numerous public meetings in the planning stages. If the council were looking for a consultation process template, this would be one they'd do well to replicate. The paddling pool area consultation, whilst being rather slow in it's progress is still trundling on and further info and consultation will take place in the near future.

AllforNun Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >The friends of Peckham Rye Park consist of about >10 6-10year olds so I am told. The Young Friends of the Park does indeed have about 10 members and is funded by Southwark Council. For more info contact [email protected] (This group has no connection with, other than supported by, The Friends of Peckham Rye Park www.foprp.org.uk ) The One O'clock Club is managed by Southwark Council and run by Scotchrita Brown-Elliston 020 7525 2000. The One O'clock club also has it's own 'Friends of' group. Both are continually campaigning for funding and assistance for improvements, but need further support from the community. So rather than adopt 'Little Red Hen' syndrome and just enjoy others hard work or complain about the poor facilities, get involved and find out what you can do to help. :))

With the 2005 introduction of the computerised voice satnav edition, I think it only fair to slip through the drain to Waterloo.

Went last night and have to echo some of the other opinions. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back. :)) -
Great news :))

Last summer, Southwark Council ran a campaign called 'Flag The Poo' where they went around all the parks in the borough sticking small orange flags in all the poo they found, hoping to shame errant dog owners into behaving more responsibly. The scheme didn't work, but contrary to the above post and it's 'chav' reference, Dulwich Park was one of the worst! So perhaps it's a case of 'Too posh to scoop!' In ED it could even be that snobbery prevents stooping to such depths as to collect the unmentionable items!

Unless they're told how dissatisfied you are, how will they know? At the moment they seem to be doing rather well, judging by 'bums on seats'. I'm sure Tarka and Domani would be only too pleased to hear your views, you can contact them via their website. Pavillion Cafe

Please get owner to contact 'Dogs Lost' http://www.doglost.co.uk/default.asp They will help with posters, helpers, etc and make the puppy too hot to handle, so to speak. It's a free service too.

Perhaps I'm a bit biased as one of the organising volunteers, but I had a great time and the fete was very sucessful. The police estimated that at it's peak there were about 2000 people, probably the reason for the beer tent running out of beer and the cake tent running out of cakes lol. The dog show and doggy games raised ?219 for charity. The sack races and boules were very popular all day long and the face painter was worn out by the end. All the volunteers worked extremely hard to put on the fete and even picked litter before leaving the site. The fete is self funding and costs can be prohibitive when deciding what attractions to include. All the childrens activities provided by The Friends of Peckham Rye Park are free, so if we manage to get sponsorship for specific more expensive attractions like a bouncy castle, that would be fantastic (Food for thought for next year :) ). If you did manage to come along, thankyou very much for helping to make the day the sucess we believe it to have been. If you didn't make it, there's always next year :)

(This is known as a tease, in the > industry.) Nero Something juicy like how the fountain enroute from China got stuck at US customs and caused a near political storm, (Well the political storm bit didn't happen)and as a result was delayed in being installed? or the fear of litigation if someone drank water from it and became ill? The cost of the fountain was built into the HLF restoration bid, but the cost of extra underground repairs to the mains supply installing the mechanics and the maintenance, etc would've been too cost prohibitive. It's there as a monument to one that was there before. It would be great to see water in it, but that won't happen even with an SLP story. It's been there almost two years, old news really! -
