Lost Alsation/German Shepherd
boosboss replied to jumpinjackflash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Was this saturday 10th or a premonition? I haven't heard anything through the parks dog walking network. Hopefully the dog found it's way home. -
A lot of 'faux' is 'faux'! Cheaper to breed and slaughter cats in the far east call it 'faux fur', than produce 'real faux' (excuse the oxymoron!).

I think today must've been EDF day! I was there too, enjoying a latte and carrot cake. Sat in the window looking out across The Rye, great view! Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. May have to try the Full English tomorrow. Well worth the wait! Well done Fiona!!! :))

Forest Hill Road Co-Op in Bright and Friendly New Staff Member Shock!
boosboss replied to *Bob*'s topic in The Lounge
I popped in there this evening and was served by said new staff member. I told him about this thread and after explaining what an internet forum was, he blushed and said he'd try to look it up. Q. Why did all the other people in the queue look at me like I was mad for complimenting someone in public? -
If we stopped doing everything that's bad for us, the hospitals would be full of people dying of nothing!

What is the least rewarding/most boring job you've had

Most horse owners do it themselves or get one of the stable hands to do it for a free ride (That's not supposed to sound as bad as it does). Most boring for me was a two day temp job. A company had produced a pancake batter mix in a sachet, with a syrup sachet attached. The syrup fermented, so I had to separated the sachets, then empty the battermix into huge containers to go back to the factory. It was sticky from the syrup and dusty from the batter mix. There was no concern for hygiene at all and it was done in a very hot warehouse beside the Grand Union Canal in Brentford, which attracted loads of midges too. The syrup smelled nice though :)) -
Has anyone else seen the posters put up locally, showing a photograph of a man with the legend 'Woman Beater and Cheater' below it?

A couple of years ago I house sat on Hallowe'en for some friends that didn't want to lose their status as one of the best houses to visit in Forest Hill. They were on some kind of 'safe or welcome list' put out by one of the schools. Anyway, Dunoon Rd is great for the kids!

Brockwell Park Road Clearance
boosboss replied to mockney piers's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Amazing! Lambeth Council are actually encouraging traffic into the area, rather than what appears to be a national pastime of discouraging it! I wonder how many of those for this proposed land grab, would happily give up a percentage of their own front gardens to widen their roads and thus allow a better traffic flow. The demands on open/green spaces in London are at a premium and I don't think we can afford to lose any! -
Greenways Cycle route (Peckham Rye Common) Consultation

AllforNun Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Strange why such a limited consultation...is that > normal ? Probably to reduce the amount of opposition! What's 'normal' when SC are involved? This is being toted as an improvement! But to what? Certainly not the common! Any erosion of London's green spaces (including Brockwell Park) for what in truth is a traffic and highways issue, should be opposed. -

Councillors Support (Peckham) Station Initiative - But will they?
boosboss replied to AllforNun's topic in The Lounge
Maurice Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > And now the anti-Tram Peckham > Vision (i.e. Eileen) wants a complete overhaul of > it's train station and plaza > Aren't the concerns about the depot/shunting yard, rather than the tram route itself? As for Eileen being PV, it's a shame only a lone voice is heard. Eileen may be the one speaking out publicly, but there are many letting her do so. > My favourite campaign was about litter at the > station. Again PV (Eileen) blamed the Council. > No one ever thought to blame those who tossed > litter. Blame those dropping the litter certainly, but if the council do nothing to control a problem, then blame them too. Why not? -
Greenways Cycle route (Peckham Rye Common) Consultation
boosboss replied to boosboss's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The return date for responses has been extended until the end of November, please complete and return yours asap. There are currently no plans by the council to consult further than the residents of Peckham Rye (East). The shared cycle path will be a 3 metre wide tarmac road running the full length of the common! -
Peckham Rye Paddling Pool Area Consultation
boosboss replied to boosboss's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The meeting was generally positive, with a handful of kids in attendance. The object of the meeting was more about working out a timescale for the project and organising a steering group to work out the finer details and how the consultation should progress, than anything. Overall a splash pool was to be the primary idea for the improvement of the site, but other aspects and additions such as play equipment and landscaping were also discussed. There was some discussion as to alternative locations for a splash pool if the old paddling pool site was not ideal, but these were not viewed any further than being suggestions. One of the biggest hurdles will be financing and where funding can be obtained from. One of the main problems with funding is that a lot of sources may regard the project as a council responsibilty and less of a needy cause etc. But many funding avenues are still yet to be explored. The project team came up with a programme completion date of mid-summer 2008. However, I don't see this as being realistic as there's still so much to do. The Nunhead and Peckham Rye Community council are fully behind the project and are keen to see it materialise as soon as possible. The Friends of Peckham Rye Park, The Peckham Society, Southwark Councils Parks Dept and Play Services all had representatives in attendance. Some of the main concerns expressed were the running costs (staffing and maintenance), environmental issues (mains or recycled water)and weather dependant usage. Overall the project is being viewed positively, but still needs lots of local support and involvement. The meetings are 'open' meetings and it would be nice to see them better attended. I will endeavour to update as regularly as I get more information. -
I won a car yesterday1 just have to claim it within 14 days, if not someone else will get it
