  1. Because I've loved Leaglebeagle's posts on this thread and she referenced it. And because it still makes me laugh out loud. And because TedMax shared his earworm this morning.....
  2. Atila, you're just a little ray of sunshine aren't you? Jah, you can serenade me with whatever you like.
  3. Actually, Woof, as an ex-long term strict vegetarian who took a very deliberate decision to start eating meat again, I am far from squeamish or naive about how animals are raised and killed for me to eat. But I still see a difference between killing an animal to eat it and allowing an animal to die slowly whilst being eaten for no purpose other than entertainment.
  4. Ace! Ok, Jah, next time I see you I insist that you serenade me with Danny Boy and Whiskey on a Sunday.
  5. Jah, just for you I've had a good look, but I can't find a version by The Dubliners anywhere online. I did have my own trip down memory lane though, with Whiskey on a Sunday which my mum used to sing.
  6. Hey, don't dis the Drawing Room, Quids. Right now there's an in depth discussion of the morality and ethics of robot porn going on. And, as I've already said, I wasn't suggesting there was any legal issue with using the forum's name, just that is might be a courtesy to run it by admin. Why so angry thebestnameshavegone?
  7. I'm not oppressing you *Bob*....
  8. I wasn't suggesting it was a matter of legality, 5imon, more of courtesy, but I think any of the suggested compromises would work just fine.
  9. I think what bothers me about this is that there doesn't seem to be any reason for the fish to be kept alive, except for entertainment. As I understand it, the head is wrapped in something cold and wet to keep the fish alive while the body is fried. Since there doesn't seem to be any gastronomical advantage to this, the sole (pardon the pun) purpose seems to be the spactacle of watching the fish thrash around as it's eaten. To my mind that is cruel as it involves needless suffering and I don't think it's a cultural judgement on my part to say that I don't much like the idea of keeping an animal alive while it's eaten, just to see it wriggle.
  10. Hi 5imon You might want to run it by Admin before you use the East Dulwich Forum name elsewhere. This came up recently, before the big forum shut down, as you can see here
  11. I don't think a prophylactic is required in a robot-human relationship, Mockney. That could be one of the advantages. But to be a little more Drawing Room about the whole thing (if we're accepting this is a Drawing Room subject) the linked piece seems to be full of speculation and fantasy to me with very little fact beyond wooly declarations that fully functioning cyborgs may be a reality... sometime. I won't be losing sleep over it and I doubt Amnesty will be setting up a cyborg branch just yet.
  12. Well, as a proud owner of the Bonnie Tyler and Meatloaf album Heaven and Hell (not, as most people assume, an album of duets, but alternating songs by each artist) I'm very grateful, Ted. And delighted to find that I still know all the words... *"I can feel his approach like a fire in my blood...."*
  13. Happy Birthday LEish, have a lovely day. x
  14. I don't know Rosie, why don't you try ?
  15. All very eloquent Ted, but wasn't this covered in a episode of Friends years ago when Joey told Phoebe there was no such thing as a selfless good deed?
  16. Well, I'm certainly not much of a fighter tonight... I can't even think of a good put down for Quids.
  17. *gives Quids an extremely serious look and contemplates best response*
  18. Hey! *looks for a frowning in a dignified/wronged way smiley*
  19. I'm in your clique, Quids. I passed first time.... after only three years of lessons :-$ Bad luck Mockney.
  20. Angel, are you based in East Dulwich?
  21. Spam and rude because she's posted the same message five times in different places on the forum.
  22. Indeed. Rude, lazy and badly written. I'm not sure I can think of anything worse than boxing-based personal training from a super-muscled, aggresive looking "star" of reality TV. *shudders*
  23. Yes, sorry, it was. I knew you were agreeing, but I didn't think I'd made my point very well, so was kind of remaking it, not to argue with you, but just to be clear.
  24. Yes, that was my whole point MickMac. You didn't see it, most people didn't see it or any of his worst posts. So, rather than saying - poor old BBW he wasn't so bad, he was just a bit of a young scamp - we need to have a bit of faith in Admin that he bans people for a reason and that reason may be something we don't all know about.
  25. I was unlucky enough to have seen some of his rapidly removed posts. As Moos has already said, in one of them he said that someone's dad should be violently gang raped and more. That's not funny. It's horrible. And I find it hard to believe that anyone doesn't think that crosses a line. And that's just one post of many that were deleted. It doesn't matter how nice or how funny he could be. It doesn't excuse that and it doesn't excuse repeatedly abusing the goodwill and good faith of Admin by posting that kind of thing after being allowed back over and over again.
