  1. TedMax is the best! This is jrussel, people. Just how short are your memories?
  2. On North Island (if you've got a luxury kind of budget) there is Huka Lodge on a lovely spot right by Huka Falls, near lake Taupo. We didn't stay there, we stayed in a cheap home stay in Taupo, but we walked by and from the other side of the river the grounds and lodge looked lovely. The town of Taupo is very average, but the lake is huge and lovely and it's quite a good base if you wanted to go to other places on North Island.
  3. Why should he? There are plenty of places out there where people can be rude if they want to. This isn't our forum, or East Dulwich's forum, or the world's forum it's Admin's forum. He set it up, runs it and maintains it. He gets to decide what sort of forum it is and what's ok and what's not.
  4. Unsurprisingly, no, I don't (miss them, that is) Like Moos I had stopped actually reading TLS's posts months ago, I just scrolled straight through them. So I have no idea really if the ban is justified or not, but I'm glad he's not posting anymore and dragging every discussion round to his agenda and I think the forum is better for it. BBW baffles me. As several people have already said, he could, when he wanted, be funny, clever, interesting and charming and I just never understood his need to be gratuitously crude, violent or offensive. Some of his posts were really appalling and sickening (it's worth pointing out, by the way, that the worst of his posts were reported and removed so quickly that most users won't have seen them which, in a way, is a shame, because it leaves people thinking he was hard done by) and usually completely unprovoked or at least entirely disproportionate to whatever provocation there had been. I just don't get it. He seemed, mostly, like a nice guy and I just don't understand why he felt the need. But he did and he was given way more chances than anyone else and just carried on doing it. The forum has rules that we all accept when we join. He broke them, repeatedly, pointlessly and disappointingly, so he had to go. Now, I get that I'm not really in tune with the forum voice any more and that lots of posters (several of them on this thread) think I'm a dull, worthy prude and I accept that; my gradual slinking away is my choice. I don't want to ban everyone who I disagree with or make everyone on the forum like me, but in these two cases I the bans were the right, and maybe the only, thing to do.
  5. Ok, so now they know, that we know, that they know about us. *waves to everyone on the other forum*
  6. What Moos said. + 10) Moos and I are not interchangable.
  7. Gas Central Heating. I think. A great assest in a man in this cold, cold world. Careful, *Bob*, I'll start stalking you on the not EDF Facebook group. emc, good luck I hope you the responses you're looking for amongst all this silliness!
  8. Give anyone a flash of her bits. Paula Radcliffe. Or at least I think that's what Moos meant. She squatted, as women do, which does give much flash.
  9. A friend of mine burnt his hand of a flaming Drambuie. Singe drinking.

Oh, is this like a personality test? If you were a washing machine cycle, which cycle would you be? I feel like a handwash today - short, cold, low energy and disappointing results.
  11. Yes, it's perfectly possible and I agree with you absolutely about the tone and quality of many threads and posts. I can only imagine how it would come across on a bad day to someone looking for the first time. But I find the whole business of going onto an internet forum to slag off another forum really odd.
  12. That's a pretty angry "smiley" for a never angry guy....
  13. ps. The comment about the African Restaurant was awful, as I think most people said at the time, but it was also months ago. Isn't it a bit suss that someone new, just taking a quick look at the forum, just happened to find it in it's current location on the 22nd page of the Gossip section? I'd say there's more than one poster on urban75 who has an agenda.
  14. And again, I'm so glad I never got into Facebook. You're not really getting it are you, e-dealer. Admin is shutting down, so that he doesn't have the responsibility of the forum while on holiday. You can't just set up a group using the forum's name somewhere else, because the name belongs to this site, Admin's site.
  15. I was kind of thinking of you when I posted, Quids. Or at least I was thinking about that angry, chip-on-shouldery, would-never-admit-to-being-middle-classy guy with the same name as you who used to hang around here. ;-)* *Full smiley to indicate that I'm doing my best to overcome my recent tetchy mood.
  16. Sean's got a point e-dealer. The EDF is something that Admin has created and takes responsibility for. Who is going to take that responsibility if something offensive is said under the name of the EDF on Facebook? You?
  17. You're absolutely right, Moos. Which of us can honestly say we didn't think "this place is bonkers/weird/sad/not something I'm ever going to use except to find a plumber" when we first logged on? Some days you could flick through the first page in each section and find a few laughs and a few good points, but far too many days if you just took a glance, you'd just see oddness.
  18. It does then go on to say that each day starts at Midnight. So we're both right and both wrong. But I knew what Mark meant by midnight Wednesday.
  19. No. Midnight on Wednesday is clearly tonight. Midnight is the very last time belonging to the current day. One minute past midnight is the next day, but midnight on Wednesday is midnight on Wednesday.

No, ok, in the cold light of day I can see that you probably weren't trying to undermine my career or professionalism. But it was the end of a long day, in a long week, in a long month and your Google post was the straw that broke the camel's back.
  22. Well, at least that solves the problem of were we can all go when the forum shuts down for the holidays. *waves to Mikecg* You're really showing us this time, Mike.

Maybe I am being daft, but just as your view is informed by your own past experience mine is coloured by mine. This brings back memories of a previous, in many ways different, but in some ways similar, situation for me and the damage done by such public speculation. Of course I have an opinion and of course I speculate, but I didn't see the need for it here.
  24. Midnight on the 14th, Quids. You've got another 24 hours.

Well, *Bob*, you've certainly opened my eyes. If I'd known I could acheive the same level of knowledge by Goggling I wouldn't have bothered with the six years of study, the ten years of experience, the long working hours or the spare time spent studying for yet more exams. Silly me. Do me a favour and find where, in any of my posts, I have said drugs were not a possibility. I haven't (except, of course, when I quoted the officer of the court who said that drugs were not the cause of death, but don't worry about that, she's probably not just as good at Googling as you are). That was never my point. My point was that were other possibilities and that I don't like automatic conclusions based on presumptions about lifestyle. But why worry about details like what's actually being said or trashing someones feelings if there's an opportunity to be superior, smug and, oh, ever so witty. That's the *Bob* way isn't it?
