I had a mega 80s crush on Elizabeth Shue. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Mr Miyagi never actually caught a fly.

Miyagi is harder than Norris, but the little fella from Kick Boxer was also wise and mental.

Not got time for this right now, but will recommend Sicko, a Michael Moore film about US health care. I love having this arguemet with my one American Republican friend.

Was chatting to my colleague yesterday, she's a big Rangers fan, and is quite torn about the Arsenal, Celtic match up. On the one hand, she said she's never supported Celtic in anything, and it would pain her to do so. However, she said it would be great as a Scot to see Celtic beat a "top" English club...

Make it so.

Should they have demanded his face be washed, so they could make sure there were no bruises under the chocolate? They don't have the right. I'm with you on the August 1st incident. However, it is interesting that the authors of that very report had praised that very council just a year earlier.

One last thing, it really really bugs me when the press whip up a storm about the tax payers having to pay to protect these monsters, yet seem blind to the fact that it is because of them that it will be necessary!

I just don't think a lot of people in this country are grown up enough to be trusted with this sort of information, and that is a very sad thing. With regards the professionals involved, what good would naming and "shaming" them do? For a start, it would make good potential social workers run an absolute mile from this sort of work, and we'd end up with worse services than we have now. Also, these people were obviously cunning, and none of the neighbours knew what was going on next door either. When you go to a persons house as a professional, you are not expected to check over a child, and if he was laid in a cot sleeping, the worker would not insist that he was awoken, stripped, and checked over. I just find all the scathing comments about the workers involved, to be massively ill informed, and naive. Social workers are there to help families, and keep kids in their homes if possible. They are not trained to see through complete pychopathic behaviour. If the people who are calling for these professionals to be named had gone around there, I'm pretty sure they'd have left the house thinking that it was horrible, and that the mum was a chav, and the boyfriend was a thick slob, but does anyone here really think they'd have gone round there, and immediately realised what was going on?

I was wondering when someone would suggest naming the professionals involved. What a very silly thing to say. I basically agree with Jeremy's point above.

BBW, I was splashing around in Horniman paddling pool before you were born son!

Yesterday, the names of baby peter connolly's mother, her boyfriend, and his brother, were released to the public, along with photos. The judge says this is to boister faith in the justice system. Social workers are worried it will cause a new storm against them, and others worry about the cost of giving them new identities when they're released. So, should they be named, and should they be given new identities at a cost to the tax payer?

I was sitting watching Manson, and wishing for something light and funny.

Lollipops, who wants my lollipops? *looks sideways through citizen's basement window*

How can I forgotten the old man from Poltergeist 2, he freaked me out, especially in a scene where he is seen shutting some people in a cave or something like that (was a long time ago, memory a bit hazy).

Wolf Creek is a very very scary film! I agree with Piers about it missing (in a good way) some of the Hollywood polish of the newer slasher films. However, at times, it was just too real, very uncomfortable veiwing, and when the girl is screaming and begging him not to hurt her, whilst he taunts her, that just felt like watching some sort of snuff! It is a very good horror film, but I had to watch it twice just to kind of get over it. Mrs Keef was genuinely effected by it, and had nightmares for a while after. Think the fact it's loosly based on the Ivan Milat backpacker murders was what freaked me. I'd read all about them, and found that the film really upset me, because it made me think of the real victims, and how scared they must have been when they died. Sorry, bit heavy there.

Murial's Wedding! RE: English Patient, vastly overrated novel and film IMO.

God I hope not! People are saying that it may have been different with Flintoff in the team, but I don't buy that. A general all round batting display like that, is not down to one man... Although the bowling may have been better had he been there. There is a lot of talk of a one off recall for Mark Ramprakash, and why not! It's a win win situation for him, he gets recalled, and could be a total hero, and if it doesn't work out, then he's hardly to blame!

Ha ha, don't join many facebook groups, but have joined that one! Remember when I was a kid, the museum was totally mixed up, with some ancient Egyptian stuff put next to a Victorian vase or something, no order to it whatsoever. Added to the general charm of the whole place. Also remember doing a primary school project on the Indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest Coast (in those days, I think the teachers just called them "American Indians", inspired by the totem pole outside.

Crap film though. That was horrid!!!! I thought the film was alright, in a mega gore kind of way. Never wayched Blair witch, as my then girlfriend caqme back from watching it, and said she'd laughed all the way through it, it was so bad. The Ring was good (Japanese and US versions), and looking forward to the upcoming third one, which apparently is a prequel.

Used to love the Peter Jackson comedy horrors, Bad Taste, and Braindead! Was in to the classic slasher horrors like Elm Street when I was early teens. I much prefer psychological thrillers though. Thought the first Saw was very very clever, and a bit disturbing. Have gotten worse since then, now they have bigger budgets, so care less about writing a good script, and rely on effects and gore more.

I thought this would be about Liverpool.

Everyone got drunk in the sun and has passed out.

I was there. Got there just before 1 and there was hardly anyone there. Then by 2 is was getting packed. People still streaming in when I left at about 5. Was a nice event, but the gardens don't really suit crowds like that, it felt too busy.

I used to love that adventure playground when I was a kid! It was a real test of yourself going to the higher and higher platforms and taking the leap of faith. Probably was dangerous, but then, I don't remember anyone getting more than a grazed knee. Thing is, health and safety has only gone mad because we have adopted his horrible compensation claiming culture.
