I haven't listened to that Maics link, but is it definitely the manics? Biffy Clyro did an acoustic version of Umbrella which was on the Radio 1 Live Lounge volume 2, so it may be either that version, or the manics have just robbed someone else's joke which gives me another reason to dislike them (like I need another reason... They are Welsh you know!)

From Wikipedia. Mothering Sunday, also called "Mothers' Day" in the United Kingdom and Ireland falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent (exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday). It is believed to have originated from the 16th century Christian practice of visiting one's mother church annually, which meant that most mothers would be reunited with their children on this day. Most historians believe that young apprentices and young women in servitude were released by their masters that weekend in order to visit their families.[1] As a result of secularization, it is now principally used to celebrate and give thanks for mothers, although it is still recognized in the historical sense by some churches, with attention paid to Mary the mother of Jesus as well as the traditional concept 'Mother Church'. It is also an example commonly used by pro-life campaigners, with many sending their mothers flowers or chocolates to thank them for giving them life.

Didn't realise that Asset, I thought it was meant to represent new life, ie. Jesus rising again and all that. Your reason sounds far more practical and likely though. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with it. I hate valentines and father's day (soz dad), but I always though Mother's day was a traditional holiday that started off as family day, when servants living in big rich houses would be given a day off to visit their families.

I think my best Eurovision memory was when I was 17 or 18 and Gina G was our entrant (she did very badly). We all watched at a mates and got take away curry. Have never done that with mates since, and maybe that should change this year... I love the way Wogan just gets more p!ssed as the night goes on :)-D

Good to hear Stevie G telling it like it is. Particularly telling was the bit that said winning the champs league wouldn't make up for the disappointment he feels about the league... He's shown he's loyal and the club means more to him than a fat Chelski pay cheque. However, how long til he says fu*k you, I'm going to a club that plays to it's potential week in week out where I don't have to carry the team each week. I couldn't agree more with everything Stevie says there. I am getting frustrated. I'd happily finish 2nd or 3rd, or even 4th if we gave it a real go, and it all came down to the wire, but we just roll over time and time again. At least some little team like Everton or Villa ( >:D< ) would be very happy with 4th, for us it's just same old same old consolation prize. :'(

Jury definitely out! I did enjoy it, but too early to really comment on how good it is. Even The Wire wasn't a great show after the first episode ;-) I was also desperate to sleep at the time, so don't think I was giving it full attention. Like the 6ft under guy in the lead role though.

Do You Know Anyone Who Has Been Mugged Recently?
Keef replied to gerry's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have never been mugged as am adult. Mrs Keef was asked for her money by a group of teenaged girls in ED a couple of years ago, and told them all to f**k off, and they did as they were told. As a teenager I was asked for my money a few times around ED, but never gave it up and was never physically attacked. Had one fight on the streets of ED when I was about 14, other than that, all pretty uneventful in terms of violent crime. -
Having already made a rose tinted glasses comment, I feel justified in mentioning the great fetes they used to have on Goose Green, complete with floats and kids dressed as pirates on the back. Philip I'm the same age as you, and agree it was a good place to be a kid in the 80s. I even remember the CPT having fun days in the stones with a big bbq and stalls out front. Maybe the difference was that there was more community then, whereas now we just talk on internet forums... People apply to have street parties these days because they want a taste of what things were like then. That's my opinion anyway.

Le Crouset is the absolute Bollocks, I have been going mad for my steals since we purchased a new cast iron griddle pan thing. Got it in town, but it weighs a ton, so could understand paying a couple of quid extra for it in Dulwich so as to save lugging it around!

You seem very confident of that LG. Can't see Wenger letting him go even if it is true.

kai Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > sadly there's nowhere for the E Dulwich kids to go and mix today....the streets are not safe, Sorry Kai, but I think it's that attitude (which seems to be the common attitude, I'm not picking on you) that's the problem. I grew up in ED, and yes there may have been a couple more things to do, but for the most part we played out, either playing footy, riding bikes or skateboarding or whatever. There were dirty old men back then too, but same as today, chances of getting grabbed by one were minimal. I conceed that there are probably more cars on the roads these days, but not so much on the quiet streets we played on. I think the problem these days is as soon as you get a bunch of kids playing out, everyone will come on here and say how annoying they are. I think of those 3 girls everyone is talking about, mugging other kids. There used to be kids like that too, but you'd all be playing out in little gangs, and had strength in numbers. I agree it would be great to have nice things forkids to do, but don't think things are really so different to how they were, we just look back with rose tinted nostalgic glasses.

That would be my guess. Macherano, whilst I'm not excusing it, raised his hand in more of a p!ss taking way to wind the player up. It worked, and Alliadiere raised his hand at speen in a clear slap. I would have told them both to sort it out and get on with it, but at the end of the day, the letter of the law says he had to go for slapping another player. Not sure I'd describe what Mascherano did as "putting his hand to Alliadieres throat", looked more like his nose to me, but there you go.

Yes there's the rim bit to stubb out ur smoke and then it all rolls down into the bin itself. Indeed, I've often wondered whether this may be one of the best design flaws ever! -
With regards blue badges, they're quite easy to get. All you need to do is get your GP to sign the form, and they will generally sign anything, especially for a small fee. Then the council will take their word for it and issue the badge. I'm not just making this up, I am currently sat about 12ft away from the team that deal with the badges and freedom passes for Greenwich!
