  1. Sweet.
  2. The people sipped their wine, and what with God there, they asked him questions. Like: do you have to eat, or get your hair cut in heaven? And if your eye got poked out in this life, would it be waiting up in heaven with your wife?

  4. Yeah I agree that some cousins and "close friends" seem to be on the hunt for some money. That said, maybe the family should have been offered more than ?15k compo straight after the event.
  5. Don't give up, cos you have friends, don't give up, you're not beaten yet.
  6. Just realised we didn't predict the Sunday match. West Ham 2 Bolton 1
  7. Agree (as I've said on the other thread, why have we got 2?). And yes, people are often executed on the streets of Brazil, and they don't need to be a murderer for it.
  8. To be fair, that second review seems really quite harsh. It was New Years eve, of course they were busy and service would be slow. I'm not a huge fan of the place, but it's not the worst on the Lane, and I believe in making your own mind up. Look at reviews before going to a really expensive place, but when we're talking about going for a curry, I think you should give places a go. Most people love Tandoori Nights, but I've seen one or 2 people on here say they thought it was really poor, so it just goes to show, different folks....
  9. Yes, the opposite to heaven is always hell.
  10. That's the whole point! You've met Jah's niece haven't you? ;-) It's great!
  11. I watched you suffer a dull aching pain. Now you decided to show me the same. Hit me baby one more time. >:D<
  12. Exactly right, you could almost compare it to a stairway to heaven (much like a ladder in a lady's tights).

Obviously someone who'd never worried about paying the rent, been miserable because s/he couldn't go out for a month, and was living on bread and butter. I agree that it may not be able to buy happiness, but I bet it bloody helps you to find it, and it certainly keeps misery at bay. Sorry, I want more money :-$
  14. ;-)
  15. Sean (and Anna for that matter), watching footy at home is sh!t. I have sat there before watching matches, and you have no one to argue with about decisions, or to slag off the ref with, or to hug when your team score in the last minute (and surely every Arsenal fan needs that). If you can't be at the game, football should be watched in the boozer! In fact, in a lot of ways I'd rather watch it at the boozer than see it live.
  16. Wine is fine but whiskeys quicker, suicide is slow with liquor. Two sips from the cup of human kindness and I'm shit faced.
  17. Totally agree about the plants and tables out front, they were lovely when they were fist bought, but they were never treated, and within a year they looked sh!t!. That's what I mean about the owner leaving it to rot, which is so sad for the staff there who try reallt hard to make it a nice place to go for a drink.
  18. I agree with *bob*, the worst thing for me has been Blair's arrogant "bullish" behaviour ever since. And frankly, even if De Mendez had been a crack dealing armed robber with a history of violence towards women and children, it still makes absolutely no difference to this case! And that photo that was supposed to show how similar he looked to the terror suspect... Did the fact their skin was completely different in colour completely escape their attention?
  19. Ondine, are you a fit redhead?
  20. Trains were f**ked from Sydenham this morning too, something about a road vehicle hitting a railway bridge... Probably the same thing.
  21. Give them time, it's bloody harder than it looks doing a quiz (I've filled in at the CPT a few times), and you always get some narky tw@ts who take it far far too seriously giving you a really hard time. It really is a thankless task, even if you are being paid a few quid.
  22. Afriend of mine has a place on Pellatt Road, and a couple of years ago she got her first bike. It was locked up outside, and one night some people came along with a truck, picked the whole thing up including locks and shipped it off. She was gutted, but fortunately insured. These days she keeps her bike at her partners place which seems much more secure.
  23. Oi. what's wrong with Whateley? I grew up there :( The lighting is awful, I'll give you that, and it's meant to be one of the streets getting new lighting this financial year, but nothing as yet. Wouldn't say it's a bad road though, there's never trouble down there. It's quite busy as a through road though, and sound carries quite a lot at night. Don't be dissin my yard though ;-)
  24. Went to Ganapati with a party of 15 last night, and it was as good as ever! People had all sorts including the beautiful Thalis (sp?), duck vindaloo (which I tried, and the duck was lovely, not fatty and greasy like you often get with Chinese meals), a prawn dish, a fish dish (both of which were raved about), and several chicken dishes (including the rather hot one I had). The thing I love is that they don't make their food hot by chucking in more and more chilies and curry powder, it's hot in a tasty way if that makes sense. Half the group had starters, and we shared several deserts (including the absolutely gorgeous mandarin sorbet!!!), there were a couple of bottles of (very nice) white wine, and quite a few bottles of cobra, as well as some coffees, and the bill for 15 people... ?309 inc service. That's good value in my book. I've said it many times on here, but Ganapati truly is a quality place! The staff are lovely too, they even put up with several loud Australians we had with us! ;-)
  25. MrBen, just to clarify, Punch Taverns own the CPT, but they sell the lease to people who then effectively do what they want with it. It's current owner made the decision to paint it, and paid for the patio out front and the reupholstering for the seats and all that. Unfortunately, she's just left the place to rot, and wants rid, so someone else will buy it from her (there have been a couple of people looking at it) and then do as they see fit. Punch Taverns really have nothing to do with the pub other than to supply the beer. For the record, I know one interested party was exploring the possibility of extending out back to build a kitchen.
