I don't know, I lived in The Pool for 5 years from 96 - 01, and never had any problems whatsoever. There were plenty of scallies around, but never really saw too much to worry me. Did see one kid get the sh!t kicked out of him by a local hard git, because he'd stupidly gotten caught throwing a brick through his window! The only major trouble up there at that time was about 1999-2000 when there were a series of shootings in bars over a few weeks, but with the exception of one poor girl who was cught in the cross fire, it was all drug gang related, not random. Maybe it was me being naive, but having grown up going out in Peckham, New Cross and Brixton, I always felt really comfortable walking the streets of Liverpool. Having said all that, I did see the best major fight in my local, involving some dodgy pikeys in town for the Liverpool show in Wavertree. One of them slapped the landlady for some bizarre reason, and it all kicked off in a huge way... It was great :)-D -

However, you shul try Australia, now they are macho! Then again, they are all British I guess ;-) Seriously, I love Oz, but they are definitely a few years behind (think Life on Mars with mor tans), it is a real man's world over there, and I could easily have ended up in several brawls with p"ssed blokes in clubs had I not been just that bit classier! :)-D -
I was a Sunday morning cross dresser too... Started as "boat boy" (carried the little boat full of incense that the vicar put in to the thurible. I then got promoted to acolyte. Then I did RS A Level, and learnt all about how corrupt the church has been throughout history, and how many people have died in it's name. I always remember wondering how my 2 teachers (one an Italian Catholic man, the other a very Church of England woman) could teach us all this, and still go every week, so I stopped. Wouldn't go so far as to say I'd never set foot in a church though.

Me neither, but remember the Mag having a terrible rep when I was a teenager (early to mid 90's). The Castle was always well known for fights too, as was The Plough for a while when it became the horrific Goose & Granite. Actually, the EDT was pretty rough back then too... Everywhere was really. You should have tried drinking down the Old Kent Road back in those days... That was really scary! -
I shall be trying to get to the CPT for it... Will have to make an "appointment" out of the office about 3pm I think.

Doh!!!! I took it easy yesterday too, but the lack of sleep, Mrs Keef's cold (cheers luv), and 2 evil hangovers have basically beaten me. Must think about getting dressed and buying some food in a minute... Oh, and next weekend will be anything but quiet, you know it makes sense! And the Swan was your suggestion! ;-) -

I agree about the lisensing laws, but I think at the end of the day there is so much of this stuff going on because people are macho tw@ts. Drink and drugs (specifically coke) don't help matters, but at the end of the day, a lot of these blokes just like a fight, and would do it anyway. They are nasty bastards drink or no drink. It's not only here though, I agree it's a problem here, but not an exclusively British one. -
I went over to The George in Balham (same owner as CPT), and my God it was busy, and I don't mean a bit full, I mean mental! It's a massive place, and there was nowhere to move. My friend was queing for the bar when I got in my cab from ED, and when I got there she'd made no pgress at all. Nothing the staff could do, it was just insane. Eventually we managed to get a couple of pints and fight our way outside (losing half a pint on the way). Absolute result though was that the outside area has a big screen on the wall, so I could smoke and watch the game, and most people inside hadn't cottoned on to this! :)-D Don't think I can handle the final there... No idea what I'll do for it actually, bloody England have royally f**ked up my plans for a stag do in London!

Do you have any idea the age of the attackers? Are we talking around 20, or closer to 30? -

Cool... I still have some work to do on the Gamecube actually... Final bit of Zelda to finish off, last couple of battles in Metroid Prime, and the whole sequel to play, so no big rush...

Arsenal's chances of winning the league. Get it?

I was never a scout, I went to a Boys Brigade in Peckham where we played lots of footy and gymnastics, as well as a bit of marching and bugal playing. I seem to remember we were occasionally expected to turn up to Sunday parade at church. In those days I was taken to church every weel though, so was nothing unusual.

You must have named them by now, what's the score? Lineker, Hanson & Lawro?

I always found it best to go for the smaller conker. People with the massive ones just give you an easy target, and would often miss you... Of course if they did hit you, you were buggered!

*Wonders why Michael is acting strangly, and decides if he's just going to look at that chip and not eat it...*

In terms of atmosphere, Eternal Darkness is the best I've played. It is genuinely creepy. Unlike the Resident Evil games which are all gore and action, this one actually spooked me a bit. Oh, and did I mention I'd finished it 3 times? ;-) I think I shall buy a new console after xmas... suggestions?

Then say something funny.

A good friend lives more or less opposite, and he can't stand it. not only for the noise, but the random parking that blocks the whole street every Sunday. Most bizarre one was when a rehearsal studio I use in Crystal Palace hired out a large hall to a similar church. We felt almost guilty playing heavy rock as loud as possible to drown them out ;-)

There was a thread about all the things that had been filmed around the area some time ago. Can't link to it now, as using my mobile to post. If someone searches All Dates for Mona Lisa you should find it... Quality film it was too!

I was always on the look out for a good "cheese cutter", and would be baking it, painting it in my mum's nail polish, soaking it in vinegar... None of which made a blind bit of difference!!!

You lucky thing, I love Cornwall! Hope you're having a great time!
