What is it with teenage girls these days??? I remember some girls I knew having hastle from other girls, but going around tooled up and mugging people, that seems quite a new thing. -
Really? God, that's down there with the Castle on my list.

Gentrify...Commodify...Regenify...which one is it?

That's a very good point. People always talk like ED was a working class haven 10 years ago, but it just wasn't. There has always been a real mix in the area, and in that sense it hasn't changed. I would say it's gotten more trendy, but is that the same thing? -

Weekend nightime demographics/behaviour in ED (Lounged)
Keef replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
I have to agree with James about Blackheath, I was there a couple of weeks ago for a friend's leaving do, drinking at "zero degrees" or something tossy like that. It's a little micro brewry which is col, but very trendy. Aaaanyway, it was absolutely full of Estate Agent types, I was quite surprised. I went out for a ciggie, and stood there listening to these 2 fellas trying to chat up some girl. It was absolute comedy gold, it was all I could do to stop myself begging them to stop for their own sakes. Anyway, the *bob* quote has pretty much nailed it I think. -

On the one or 2 occcasions I've seen footy there it has been great, I can't deny it. There are however plenty of other reasons to hate it, the owner/manager being high on that list.

Gentrify...Commodify...Regenify...which one is it?

Do you think gentrification in Dulwich has been a good thing or a bad thing? On the whole a good thing, there have been massive improvements to the high street, there are better places to eat and drink, and the primary schools all seem to be doing well. People have been priced out (me included), but that's life, and it happens all over. Bad side... Well unfortunately, people exist like the mother you spoke to who would by a pram because it's the done thing around ED... What a fecking gob shite Has it gone too far? I don't know what you mean by "too far", in my opinion, it will have gone too far the day the CPT gets an all over face lift and starts serving posh nosh. Where do u think it will end? No end in sight as yet. People bought in ED say 5-6 yars ago, and will have made a great profit. However, when they need to upsize because they're having bigger families or whatever, they will find themselves priced out, and wealthier people will move in. Can only see it stopping if there is a massive crash in house prices, but that's far from likely. -
East Dlwich is barely even Zone 2, the border of zone 3 used to be the roundabout. As Sean said, if you're minted, and have an extra grand a month to throw away (or if for some reason your current mortgage is very small), do it. However, don't leave yourself so skint you can't actually afford to go out, otherwise it makes no odds where you live. I'm from East Dulwich, and do love the place, but am now living just up the road in Sydenham, and am well happy with that. If you haven't already read it, you may find THIS THREAD interesting/useful... That is to say there are some mixed opinions and useful ones in amongst the usual nonsense.

I was hinking about this, and have a suggestion, although it's probably to much of a pain to sort out. Rather than just having one vote, how about everyone votes for their top 2 or 3, with their number one getting 3 points, number ywo, 2 points, and number three 1 point. Would be interesting to see how that came out in the wash. NOTE: You could do 2 votes, giving 3 and 1 points like in the footy. ANOTHER NOTE: You could just ignore my meddling and stick to the normal vote.

I've never done one of these drink while you watch games. I remember seeing one for Titanic, and it was about 2 pages long, you'd never remember it all... I can se why you'd want to drink through Titanic, but surely you'd want to pace yourself so as not to miss Kate's baps?!?!?

Exactly right... I think :-S Sean, yours actually made me go back and look at the list!

Here is the link to the thread I was talking about, you may find it interesting.

Hmmm, I just Can't Posibly Take a decision here... :-S

Freaks! As far as I'm concerned, anyone who gets on and off a bus on the same road, however long that road is, is a lazy bastard!

This is my first input on this thread. Why do people think it is so unreasonable for people to want to be in an area without kids? I hope to be a parent in the not too distant future, and when that day comes I'm sure I will be loking for a place where I can take mini Keef and have a pint. However, I will also be hoping that there are places I can get away from the sound of kids on the odd occasion I get a break. I do think no children areas is an idea which just wouldn't work. However, I can't stand the view that someone who wants to keep a few child free places for grown ups to have a beer in peace, is a child hating git.

Weekend nightime demographics/behaviour in ED (Lounged)

Similar story in The Observer yesterday. I was shocked, because I always think of Lewisham Hospital as being full of drunks. This is going back anout 11 or 12 years, but a friend of mine was in there for an operation. Everytime we went to visit him there was shouting and screaming, and police in the A&E. Again thouh, I've never had a problem around there. There is more than enough violence in London, but I think you'll find the majority of it has nothing to do with drink. Teenage gangs fighting each other and mugging strangers probably accounts for most of it! -
The owner made Candice and Marie (the 2 managers of the CPT) work at The George which is where I was. As ever, she doesn't give the CPT a second thought, and wonders why it doesn't make her a load of money! Glad you had a goodun though, don't think they were expecting it to be that busy, as all the other games had been reletively low key for some reason. I was in there earlier for the footy, and it was quiet then too. You can never tell with the CPT really.
-
Cheers for that. Remember being taken to events there when I was a kid, think my parents were members (not that either of them went to that school, but there you go).

Did that used to be known as the DOSA Club or something like that?
