  1. Piers, I used to know a man with a van, and one day we were in his van coming home after a gig, and he had a toy gun on the dashboard (silly I guess, but you don't really think about it). We were pulled over, and a voice told us to put hands up, as there was a sniper aiming at our heads..... I was about 15.... Never actually saw the sniper, and they just told us to move on with the toy gun in the glove compartment.... :-S
  2. Nice to see a new forum member so warmly welcomed :-S Number of friendly forumites....... ??????
  3. I thought the same about the eggs, but I wasn't SURE they were actually real eggs...... Maybe I'm just being naive :-S

I am currently wishing I hadn't gone to the pub and done all those shots last night!!! Mrs Keef is out at the theatre tonight, so I will be forced to return to the pub and do more shots!!!!! :)-D

  6. TillieTrotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Excuse my ignorance Keef, what is acuity? Basically, it's the sharpness / distance of vision... When you look at a snellen test in the opticians (the letters on the chart), most people can see that there are letters there, but can't necessarily pick out what the letter is, that will judge their acuity.... In America, perfect acuity is 20-20. Here it's 6-6 meaning you can see from a distance of 6 metres what you "should be able to" If you could only see the top letter, you'd be 6-60, meaning that you can see from 6 metres what you should be able to see from 60... If you can't see the top letter, you're getting towards being registerable as blind. See HERE for a better explanation. See HERE for a thing about Madeleine McCann, it has a picture of her eye, so you'll see what I mean by the key hole effect... I have the same thing in both eyes, but my eyes are so dark you don't really notice. Sorry to have gone way off the topic again :-S
  7. It does indeed, acuity and visual field... I do have to agree with Georgia and James, in that as bad as this is, there are plenty of things out there that are just as bad! How would you feel now if your child was missing, and this one particular case was getting all the attention? That said, it doesn't make it wrong of people to care.
  8. I know how absolutely ridiculous and beside the point this is, but I only saw the other night that she has a coloboma (key hole pupils cos part of the iris is missing). I have that, and we're very rare... Just made me feel sad... Like I say, completely nonsensical, but there you go. On the bright side, it makes her that bit more recognisable!

  10. I used to work in a very odd and very scary Irish American bar near Lime Street in Liverpool... I am pleased to say that I retained no friends from that place!

  14. My uni years weren't the happiest of my life, but it did put me on the path of the drinker you see today! ;-) Would like to go back and take it more seriously... Might actually do it, as have been considering a career change...

Mine was a cool looking plane, but when I pressed preview it was all messed up :(
  21. A couple of mine..... Bit of a mix bag! :-S Magician - Raymond E Fiest (and probably others of his... I think Magician is one of the best Fantasy books ever, and the early ones that followed it were very good. His more recent stuff is getting a bit stale I think). Red Dragon - Thomas Harris Lord Of The Flies - William Golding - Did it for GCSE, and liked it, so reread it a few years back, and still liked it. 1984 - George Orwell - Did this for GCSE, and found it incredibly dull!!!!! Reread it about the same time as LOTF, but to be honest, still found it pretty dull... Much ado about nothing - WS - My favourite WS (that I've read.... I've read a fair few though). Mr Commitment ? Mike Gayle ? His books have been described as the male answer to Bridget Jones? Nice easy reading and nice stories that I found myself smiling about in a relating kind of way. Again though, he?s done 5 or 6 now, and the formula is starting to get rather tired! Mrs Keef is a huge reader, and a big believer in re-reading things! Think she?s currently re-working her way through lots of Dickens.

  24. I've re-read a few, but usually because I've finished a book, and need something quickly to read on the bus. No harm in it at all though.... You could spend your whole life watching film after film, but we've all got favourites that we've seen a few times... Why should books be different. :))

Basically it's all gone a bit mad! *Makes apologetic gestures to the others for outburst* :-$ *Considers renaming the Quiet Room..... Party Room...... EDF Social Club...... EDF Legion... * :-S
