Stacy is a genuine talent I think. She also seems very sweet, and I think voters will go for her.

There is a drama thing on More 4 tonight about David Cameron and Boris when they were young. Trailer looked quite good, so may have a bit of a watch.

Michel Roux is really nice. That Monica woman is horrid, and the bald bloke is a knob. I'm quite addicted to it though.

Am having a strongbow now, then back to the grolsch. Have to mix it up on a mental Friday night like this!

Damn it, wish I'd been there, you're not allowed in the CPT without telling me! ;-) By the way, don't know if you've been in the castle lately, but a good friend (used to work in cpt, married to my mate) is now working there, but not fri & sat nights.

Right, well I've just been holding the baby in the air, and she puked on my face from a height!!! Never happened to me before, and I shall be taking action to make sure it never happens again!!!!!! After that, I am now ready to skin up, and crack open my first can of Grolsch. I've gone proper scuzzy tonight aswell, and bought a 2l plastic bottle of strongbow! Class!!!! :)-D

Was wondering if anyone had much experience of Peavey amps? I used one at an open air gig we did, tiny little thing, but really really made a lot of noise!

I do too, but just thinking of simplicity. Problem with combos is that if your speaker goes wrong, the whole thing is out of action, same with the head section.

Have thought about that, and definitely an option... Or I think they might do a combo version, so may trade in.

I too am a Marshall man. Not sure I do know any more than you though Brendan, I used to be a bass amp geek in my younger days, but I took a friend's advise on my guitar amp, and it was good advise, but it's just such a big b@stard! Same friend has a great little Marshall combo, but it's on it's last legs, and I've never tried the newer models.

What would people recommend as a good combo amp, not too big, packing a punch, ideally with good built in distortion? My amp (Marshall JCM2000 TSL head, and 4x12 cab) is rather large, and not always appropriate for smaller venues (plus it takes up a lot of space in the car!). I would like something that created a similar sound though, so if anyone has used something like that, I'd be grateful for the advise. Putting this in the lounge, as I doubt I'd get any responses on this in the recommendations section.

I actually think this is a decent thread abouyt a topic that has been in the news. There has been nothing offensive posted, and Sean I did cringe when I saw you post asking Mick if he wanted people to say it was okay for him to call people Paki. I just didn't jump in initially because I didn't want to be viewed as arguing just because it was you ;-)

Anna, I think that was obvious from the start, but some people were just taking any opportunity to be an arse. You glam up girl, the drinks will be all the more attractive for it!

Maurice raises a very good point about the definition between the word paki and the word nigger. The latter as much more taboo, and I wonder if it's because a, pople are a bit more scared of offending the black man, than the little man in the corner shop, and b, because black people have to some extent reclaimed the word as their own (see ANY episode of the Wire, or Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction, which was where I first head it used by a black man addressing a white man).

Totally with RosieH on this. Had he called the Scots the sweatys, that would be comparable to the term Paki. Dour Scot is just Dour Pakistani.

Okay, so we went, and I have to say they were really bloody good. Fear N Boozing and I, being us, started in the pub, then wandered round to the academy just before 9. The queue was still large, so we nipped round the corner and bought some tinnies, and some favourite fried chicken. After necking all that, we went in during about the 3rd song. Band very loud, and very tight, good sound. Monkey gone to heaven came on, I cheered because I knew it, and I sang along. Couple of other tunes came on throughout the set that I remembered jumping around to at The Venue when I was 14. Negatives... Well, Brixton, which used to be my favourite venue, just packs too many people in these days, it was uncomfortably busy. The band went off just after 10, and milked a good 5 minutes of applause before coming back and doing 2 songs, then going off for another 5 minutes, before coming back and doing another 2 songs, they went off again, and were clearly going to come back, but we'd had enough of standing around waiting by then, so we left and got a cab back for a quick pint at the CPT before bed. Good night, and good band, but there is only so long you can listen to songs you don't know, however good they may be. It has though, made me decide to listen to a bit of Pixies, and I'll probably try and see them next time they decide to do some gigs for some cash. I just wish they'd played a full set, gone off for a couple of minutes, then come on and played a couple of encores at the end. Going off a load of times, and milking it just annoys me. Wicked guitarist!

Now that I would go to!

After not drinking or smoking for a few days, a night in with some cans, will be giving me much joy tomorrow!
