  1. Husband did karting and laser quest somewhere in North London (but not very far North - think Camden or that way) which also limited the initial drinking, then ended up in a pub until closing time (that dates it!!). Easy for people to get to, to join in various bits as they wish, and to get home from when they want.
  2. daughter is at goodrich and quite a few come from Friern road. She's in yr 2 though so no idea what the catchment might be now...
  3. Other Pixar like finding nemo, monsters inc, wall-e? Also old disney - robin hood and others similar to peter pan?
  4. So was I - whenever there's a "buggy" question, I feel like posting: Just pm Snowboarder - she knows...
  5. Agree on getting vases from Ikea (very cheap) and then filling - can't remember exact costs now but I'm pretty sure when we got married 7 years ago we didn't spend more than ?200 on flowers and that was for 15 tables plus a bouquet plus a few buttonholes. Square vases with a few flowers (roses and lisianthus) and some greenery. Indacos at the Forest Hill end of Lordship Lane did ours - were very helpful and a good price.
  6. Definitely plenty of little, individually wrapped snacks, e.g. flapjacks, chocolate, sweets - friends with newborns always appreciated those as easy to keep on hand and don't need to be in the fridge etc.
  7. Re London Eye and unsuspecting tourists, if you go mid-week in Jan it will be v quiet, esp in the morning... We went a few years ago and the kind person directing us on let us have a pod with just 2 other people in it rather than going in with a bunch of school kids. Worth considering and he'll love seeing things from it...
  8. Would say similar level - we went with our 6-yr-old and she loved it. Has she been to the theatre before, because it is well staged, in terms of things happening all over stage and above (won't ruin any surprise for you, unless you want details in which case pm me), so you might want to be ready for/prepare her for that...
  9. London Eye or Aquarium? Both relatively weather insensitive. Worth trying to book in advance online as you can often get good discounts particularly if going aytime in the week. I know the joy of a late Jan birthday...!
  10. Goodrich took a bulge class in 2009 so you might be able to work out what that did to subsequent distances
  11. http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2012/jan/05/ikea-warning-faulty-high-chair
  12. Kind of depends on what the preferences are - we've been caught out having made fish pie for friends without realising one of them didn't eat fish. We'd had fish previously at their house but as part of a barbecue and we didn't notice one not eating it! Agree can seem rude, and wouldn't do it myself, but I think i'm pretty unfussy as food goes and assume my friends are too, which isn't always the case.
  13. Make a round cake and trace round peppa onto appropriately coloured fondant icing to put on top. At least it's a reasonably simple shape to trace.
  14. Also gutted by this - who could do that. Will be hard to explain to daughter as well - it's always been part of the park
  15. Father Christmas breakfast courtesy of the Raymond Briggs book - bacon, eggs and toast. If it's good enough for the man himself after all his hard work, it's good enough for us to start our day!
  16. I'd have thought you'd be quicker to walk that, even with preschooler in tow, given the wait for the bus and the amount of traffic there usually is along there at that time in the morning...
  17. Lewisham surprisingly well stocked - has Boots, M&S, Next, Wallis, an amazing shop called Tiger which is full of little bits and pieces, TK Maxx, Primark, Superdrug, a discount book shop, Peacocks, WH Smiths. Easy to get to on the bus as well... Bromley probably better but difficult to get to on public transport.
  18. Not sure what others think about the Bridge at Sydenham for tiny babies - we gave up going to Peckham because too hard to actually get in, but not sure how warm the Bridge is for very little ones. Easy parking though... Just a thought.
  19. But don't forget, they have put some kind-of curtain things in so now they're completely private!! I noticed that price and couldn't believe it either - the top two, with private balconies, a lovely view (I imagine) and not easily looked into maybe, but the bottom two...
  20. I think it might be the advert for something going on at the Glades in Bromley - sorry, not sure that will help your son...
  21. Thanks James, will do. Does seem a bit daft that someone is paid to walk down there every other day to pick up litter which they won't be able to see under all the leaves, but there you go...
  22. Thanks James, i'm talking about the downhill bit between lordship lane and the entrance to the park opposite the little playground. Look forward to hearing what you find out. Thanks for your help with this. Becca
  23. Hi James Do you know who is responsible for clearing leaves in Firemans Alley - it hasn't been cleared at all and the leaves underneath are rotting, making it very slippery. Is it related to the park or the roads? Thanks Becca
  24. What would it cost and what time would it be from/til? Also any idea of age range and sort of activities would be good.
  25. Can't the nursery advise you on this? might be worth asking the manager...
