  1. Very good staff in there as well Only one way for you to find out Mike...
  2. Looks like a very large room - so maybe the Pulse So anyone in the crowd we can spot ? what are they wearing ? Dimbleby's tie is shocking...
  3. Good - Ghostface Killah
  4. Why mention the EDF ? It would be amusing like the England footy team answering questions with song lyrics during the World Cup in 98
  5. is from Peckham - with Piers Morgan... Should be interesting. Anyone going - any will anyone mention the EDF ?
  6. Richer Sounds is always a good place to waste some time - and the staff are on the whole much, much more knowlegeable compared to ones in Dixons, etc Not sure if LL is the right place (agree about the footfall comment) - but I'm all for some more variety shop wise
  7. "During the day the a women from E.D.F calls to talk figures while I'm at Sainsburys and the silly cows only gone and signed us up!" ------------------ The East Dulwich Forum now doing house calls- is there a recruitment drive ?
  8. Hmm, good points on trading up. Yes, it depends on lots of factors as mentioned - esp I feel the completion of a chain at the moment I think selling a property that has been improved and buying a larger property in need of work might still be worthwhile as a long term project, esp if you can fix your mortgage now for a few years
  9. Anyone with equity in E.D looking to take advantage of low interest rates and "trading up" locally ?
  10. Is that the bog that appeared on Goose Green ? Free I believe ;-)
  11. Coming soon to an ex-Woolies store near you...
  12. Try Barry Road barbers - v good (and you get a cold beer)
  13. Sometimes better to take out a general emergency cover with your house insurance Halifax offer this for ?50 a year - immediate callout 24hrs, no excess, doesn't affect any no claims and repairs up to ?500 a time. We've only used it once for a lighting issue - but will cover boilers, water, etc
  14. Moved a couple of doors down sometime earlier this year
  15. Pistachio Club - always consistently good (been a few times on a Sunday) - and not only the old favourites. Last time (couple of weeks ago) they had a lovely mild prawn dish in a coconut sauce. Think its still ?6.95 for adults and they are always topping up the buffet with fresh food
  16. You could host a great quiz night in the dining room
  17. Actually v good news for Merrills - BoA have v little presence in Europe so apart from investment banking there will limited job losses Unfortunately, just a matter of time for AIG now I think.
  18. Anyone had any luck getting a tree for their street from Soutwark council lately ? Last time I asked they said they were only replacing ones that had died
  19. Saw a screening of The Dutchess at the Peckham Plex last Sat - all v civilised and definitely nobody talking to each other or chatting on their mobile. It was maybe 60% full. ?5.50 - bargain
  20. Went last night and had a good time - good mix of people (more female than male, more on the younger side), and not too packed. Two bouncers on the door appraised me quickly - but wasn't a problem. Bar men were friendly and attentive - much like the Clapham branch. Empties were collected regularly. It was the first time I've sat in a bar on L.L and thought that it could have been somewhere else (Balham, Clapham, Battersea, etc if you know what I mean) - maybe the reason for some of the negative comments about this place being generic ? 2 for 1 on cold Peroni's before 8pm was v welcome on a Friday night
  21. "Bringing drinks over" means an added 12.5% service there - surprised that you didn't get your drinks though I like the Montpelier but for a local that 'added touch', and the silver change trays are not really welcome. There are other good pubs in the area (The Rye Hotel, The Gowlett, The Duke, etc) where service is good and drinks are cheaper
  22. Great Sunday lunch today - lovely crackling with the stuffed pork - good value at ?10. Pretty empty when we arrived, but liked the look of the place. Had a drink and it was nice for the manager (Nick) to introduce himself. The stampede of parents and buggies started at 1pm, but there was enough space for all. Liked the dining room and the serving staff were all friendly and attentive. Desert was a little disappointing (apple crumble and clotted cream) - mentioned it would be better with single / double cream and a little jug was immediately produced Would have mentioned the slow service, but the looked like they were doing their best at a busy time. Its early days yet Like the idea of bar snacks - but those Scotch Eggs have to be pretty good at ?4 a pop ! Will be back
  23. What has the poor newsagent done to deserve that ? ;-) Terrible waste of time - and really annoying situation though Louisa
  24. Will soon be turning into a Co-op, so maybe the pricing will be sorted out

    Euro 2008

Best football tournament as long as I can remember. Read an article in the Times today about when the brilliance subsides in a match in Euro 2008, the drama has taken over....too true In the same paper, a misguided fool was perplexed and questioned why BBC/ITV had to show it - just because none of the home nations were in attendance !!!
