  1. Woke up one morning half asleep with all my blankets in a heap. I can't go for that, no can do as I stumbled through last night?s drunken debris under the moon of love and yellow roses scattered all around and I thought to myself what a wonderful world. I'm a little pea where there's music and there's people who are young and alive. She's a rich girl, she don't try to hide it, she's got diamonds on the soles of her shoes. He's a poor boy empty as a pocket with nothing to lose. It's your life, and you can do what you want, do what you like, but please don't keep me waiting, I'm feeling supersonic, give me gin and tonic

  3. Just to be equally pedantic brendan, snorky said "The lateran pact was an agreement brtween[sic]* the fascists and the Catholics." He didn't mention the nazis for that point, though very easy to infer that as it was followed by the word Hitler, but in a new paragraph**. Mussolini may not have been a nazi, but he practically invented fascism (well, actually the romans were pretty good at it in the first place, spartans too really, but I really digress now). Incidentally have we Godwinned this debate now? *I gather some coffee and biscuits not mixing well with technology may be responsible for erratic typing today. ** remind me to get a life ... or a new job.
  4. Well I guess we're back to original sin, as long as you're born and blessed you can die safely. Temporal suffering is of course of no import or concern and doubtless thoroughly deserved as a very shouty man on the tube insisted on telling me and the rest of the carriage this morning. c**t
  5. Oh mate, I love the film, and the sex scene has to compete with the opening sequence, the vomiting and kim jong il feed hans brix to the sharks, for stand out moments. I just can't imagine how much worse the uncut sex scene can be?!? ha ha, searching for the scene on youtube, if you use hans blix, brix or kim jong il you only get foreign versions, to find an english one you have to search for man eats shark. *sigh* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym5_HDDH2A4
  6. I was told on sunday that there's an uncut version of the sex scene?!?! *shudders* If it wasn't for the swearing would the film have got a lower certificate, surely plastic puppet sex can't count?
  7. Don't Panic!!!
  8. I'm sure she's genuine, I told 'Mrs Robinson' about the good feedback on the forum months ago. and pushing the drinks hard I see sean. ;-)
  9. Only one place yet to register a vote. Right on whoever went for the castle :))
  10. get there early, it gets very very very busy. I'm thinking of watching it from The Florence, where hopefully the view won't be too obscured by trees and the fence.
  11. As far as I can see the make-up of the forum posters (outside the wanted section) pre 5 o'clock is heavily male, especially in the lounge (no offence anna, cwald and occasionally dm), and it evens up significantly in the evening. Not sure why this is the case, maybe women are more conscientious at work, maybe not; I dunno, just my observation.
  12. The Ariel Atom 3 is out. nice!! *warning, very boring if you're bored by this sort of thing* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7uAgWuxWkQ
  13. Fair enough gerry, indeed the future is unknowable but I doubt any decision of this ilk late on in pregnancy is made lightly.
  14. "abortions at a 20+ week stage often do so for unforeseen reasons" absolutely BM, unforseen and usually medical reasons; all very tricky and upsetting for those involved. None of the current debate in parliament, should be framed against a backdrop of designer/too posh to push/council estate/single mums, or any of the usual clutter* that gets in the way of reasoned discourse. *such as "Its not perfect, let's kill it." Rather trivialising the debate there aren't you gerry? I think we're talking with a sever degenerative disorder that will condemn a baby to some brief weeks of suffering before dying, not a limp or a genetic predisposition to asthma.
  15. Nice to see a well reasoned contribution there Nero. I'm ambivalent. Banning it doesn't deal with it and leads to real horrors, so it's important to have the choice; but as maurice points out, it's not simple thing to deal with even with institutional support. But my personal instincts feel it's wrong; I'm not religious nor believe in moral absolutes, so it's not a moral stance, but I feel bad if I even squash a spider. I know under no circumstances would I ever or have ever asked someone to do it, and would probably have been deeply upset if they had, but would understand their ultimate right to decide. Fortunately have never been put (err ... or put anyone) in that position.
  16. Early head start from the Bishop, with a good surge from the CPT. I'll warrant that the EDT was the only one to have 100% of the vote at one point B)
  17. US religious right are bonkers shock Next they'll be voting for a president who gives away whatever pathetically small leg-ups they get in life to big business interests. Oh wait....
  18. Funnily enough the chap in question was comparing the nose on a white wine to the smell of a lady's woo-woo; whoever that was......errr...you know....I imagine....
  19. Each to their own, if it rings your bell that's grand. I've been there a large number of times and I know what I've experienced there on more than one occasion, and I know what I don't like. I'm happy to avoid the Palmerston for distaste, the Clockhouse for indifference and the Vale for abhorrence, that's my prerogative and no-one has to follow suit. "Cosy middle class claphamite ideal"? You're better than that spadetownboy.
  20. tsk, they should be ashamed...filth!
  21. I'm not sure anyone's disagreeing here, Bob was just making a pretty valid point about the framing it as 'they fought for our freedom' as a little unhelpful and misleading in trying to engage the youngsters today. My heritage is from a different war altogether, one fought from '36-'39, where they really did voluntarily take up the banner of freedom and equality, and sadly for their part, they lost. That doesn't make their effort and sacrifice any less awesome in my book. I'll be wearing a poppy for the servicemen of Britain, and will spare a wider thought on that day.
  22. Hamlets v Burgess Hill tonight btw. I'm tempted I must say
  23. Indeed, after his departure someone did a run down of money in, money out and wages and worked out that for all his much reknowned shrewd wheeler-dealing, he'd actually lost the club a fortune and all his quality signings had a catalogue of horrors to his name too. Still, we had some great times as well as terrible times under him and he's definitely a character.
  24. Marco Boogers, Samassi Abou, Florin Radicioui; not to mention Gary Charles and Paolo Futre for not actually playing for quite substantial sums of money.
