  1. No no, didn't want access, just suggesting I might write a correctly working function that Admin could use rather than one that clearly doesn't do the job.
  2. Any chance you can send me the search function (PM probably wisest). It's basically rubbish and I'd love to see the code behind it. It should be "SELECT post_text FROM posts WHERE post_text LIKE '%search term%'" but obviously isn't. Well, I guess it's wrapped in a procedure otherwise people would search for '; DROP DATABASE' but that's another matter entirely. If I could rewrite it so it worked, that'd be pretty useful.
  3. Oops. Yeah I hesitate every time I write it, I think I even asked once on hear [boom boom], and will normally go off and google. Muchoth apologies, I was lazy yesterday. No idea why the answer never sticks in my head, but it will do after a public castigation, especially when I was being such a pedantic sh!t yesterday!!
  4. I've a horrid feeling someone hardoced the term into the core software, as it doesn't seem (from what Mark's said) that it's so much as an option anywhere.
  5. Sorry to hear that Blue, hope you're ok. It sounds suspiciously like it could be the same girls; if they're stupid enough to be repeating their crimes in the same area then let's hope it's not long before they're caught.
  6. Maybe Jah, maybe...but those WERE the days. Scene was completely gone on my return to the south. I blame coke myself, ruined the heady atmosphere. Yeah Baby!! Cubik
  7. There are thirteen... Shouldn't you be setting an example? *sighs*
  8. Jayd, I assume you must have defined the parameters of what you mean by Gentrification for the purposes of your study. I'd genuinely be interested to hear them, as long as it doesn't get your dissertation into some sort of trouble for publishing bits of it. Perhaps a summary, it might help frame some of our interminable debates here in future? And Keef, sometimes?!?!
  9. "Jesus Christ! Why have you drugged their onions?"
  10. Nope, it was rhetorical and thus a statement, not a sentence. I did give it a moment's thought though ;) Incidentally, does an emoticon act as a full stop in the manner of a question or exclamation mark?
  11. Here was an occasionally heated thread that covers many of the themes you're interested in Jayd. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,33725,page=1
  12. Yeah, sorry. I'll post up something more useful when I have a bit more time. (well, more time in one chunk anyway)
  13. There's an end in sight with Baldurs Gate, likewise Oblivion. Some of the guys I played WoW with (I played for about 14 months, gave up almost 2 years ago) are still playing most evenings to this day. I'd love to call them sad, but then I remember what those 14 moths were like. (great btw)
  14. If you're looking at cause and effect you may want to start off by not spelling it 'affect'. I get affected when people effect this effect in me. You don't want to drop to a 2:1 just for poor spelling and grammar now do you. sorry, it's the old sub-editor in me, difficult to suppress sometimes
  15. Can you have a townie in a city? Seems to buck the definition somewhat. As your average student comes from a townie environment they're probably only to pleased to be in somewhere like Sheffield, and rightly upset to be beaten up by locals who I seriously doubt needed any provocation to hit the speccie tw@t in the first place.
  16. WoW is a bit of a life eater, I have to ban myself from MMORPGs, but the likes pf Halo 3 and Project gotham can be quite quick hit experiences. Plus the missus has been living abroad during the week for most of the year, and gaming helps to keep me out of the pub.
  17. very true. I think the dance music scene was probably worse than anything else for that. I loved proper rave, everyone together, all loved up, dancing like an idiot, it really about the music as long as it got everyone going. I think I washed my hands of the whole scene in about '93 when all that horrible terminology came into play and everything fractured into scenes; the hard-sub-proto-house-kids versus the happy-intelligent-beatniks who never darkened the doorsteps of the progressive-break-trip-miami-speed-synth-euro-clashers hating the dark-2-step-goan-psy-techno-trancers. AAAAAAAAAGH Anyway, a blast from the past Family Foundation - Express Yourself No doubt I've got it all wrong and this isn't rave at all but deep house hardcore :-$
  18. Ah, the beauty that is Roaring Meg. Probably why I equate Stevenage with Croydon alot, both places combine entertainment areas with shopping areas with the result that you have to step over puddles of blood when trying to get a new lampshade. ED is still and I suspect will ever remain a paradise compared to either of those. There something about towny attitude which is so much worse than your cities', it's generally less extreme yet somehow omnipresent.
  19. OK, we're ditching the headache music are we? A bit of post rock* for you then 65 Days of Static - Drove Through ghosts and Retreat Retreat Is post rock just a young persons label for prog, a bit like emo is pop-goth-lite and nu-rave is err...rave?
  20. clan Now we're getting really geeky ;-) Yeah, anyone else play? Anyone ... anyone .... Bu...
  21. Finally something for Wii owners that isn't bowling or golf http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=617 video at bottom looks quite good
  22. Oh god yes, any of those bubblegum eurotrash tunes make me go a bit wild-eyed and throbbing-templed. This tune was a favourite of one of the chaps in the hifi shop I worked in as a student and used as his classic demo cd, cranking it up anything up to 50-60 times on a saturday. It makes me want to kill people. Aeorsmith - Love in an Elevator
  23. NAP ;-P
  24. I think we have a thread somewhere almost entirely conducted in TLAs which was equal parts impressive, ludicrous, depressing and scary.
  25. I know how you feel. Sing it Back provokes similar reactions in me. Songs most likely to make you take a rolling pin to your 80gb iPod toaster? Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
