  1. Keef's normally a pretty enlightened poster tbh, but he may have been a little guilty of stereotyping in this instance. Mind you, with the average car speed in london dipping below 10mph I can't see much use for a porsche in this fair city.
  2. EDF version of the /. effect? More likely that the beeb have just done a story about it, but nice thought :)
  3. I'd be surprised if they're all from SE22. My mate in chicago is quite a fan.
  4. a 747 flyby?! Why? The residents of West London get one of those every 16 seconds!
  5. Indeed, in a back to front world many moons ago, finding that out made me investigate the Stones more thoroughly than watching the painted black intro to 'Tour of Duty'.
  6. Maurice is doing a straw man insinuating that empathy for addicts and support of treatment = wilful damage of private property. Not all that convinced myself, but he's entitled to make his point.
  7. What we should do is get the formation underage drinking display team in from Chatham in their best burberry and bling. They down their bacardi breezers in an impressive display of foolishness before synchronised throwing up, vandalising phone boxes and going off for a quick knee trembler behind the managerial dugout. Red Arrows Shmarrows.
  8. Just get the details arranged here and I have a funny feeling the SLP might be on hand, complete with photographer (a bit like peter parker and spiderman, sort of). Tom, a bit less of the daily mail emotive language a la the DMC story this time eh? I know they're your sister paper and all...but...
  9. From Keith Richardsish to err..... The Soup Dragons
  10. Reminds me of this flickr group
  11. Was he the grizzled old cowboy on City Slickers? Personally I find Billy Crystal a lot more irritating.
  12. I don't think you strictly speaking invoked godwin by calling people nazis, but having unwittingly deflected this discussion over to nazi germany and it's bursting bubbles (by which I assume you meant entire cities reduced to rubble, mass rape of it's population, 8 million dead etc.) then Godwin may have come into play. I suggest maybe some culling of posts to keep it on track or a visit to the lounge.
  13. I know the Red Arrows are part of the RAF, but I'm sure that's because they're the best around. I never thought of the displays as overtly military, they just happen to use the military designed equipment to hand. It's not really in the same spirit as the Soviet may day parades is it. If it was was a drive past of tanks then fair enough, but I'm sure it's more to do with pretty smoke trails and impressive aerobatics. Maybe, as someone suggested, we get the Red Bull people instead, it's just they're not as good. But if it's reallllly so bad I can do without, in fact I don't think I'll be watching it anyway, the only enjoyable opening ceremony moment was Diana Ross' kick in the World Cup (which I think SMG mentioned. Ooh, do his initials make him overtly military? ;-))
  14. This is a good indicator why one of our oldest forumites is one of my favourites. http://www.beerintheevening.com/user_comments.shtml?username=snorky
  15. Not a worm at all, more like a very cute snake (but actually a lizard as pointed out below..and in wikipedia link to be fair)
  16. I have to say I'm with in the MP gang on this one. Everybody likes aeroplanes with brightly coloured trails. There is such a thing as too much sensitivity sometimes, especially if noone has actually complained. Of course anyone in Indonesia with first hand experience of those 'trainer' hawks we sold them is probably dead, so no worries there ;)
  17. In 'Clapham South' AKA Balham? ;-)
  18. Have you really got them? Cool, I'll keep an eye out. Apparently the area is als known* for it's stag beetles. *in the sort of circles that know about these things.
  19. Robert Green for England anyone? If it hadn't been for him Arsenal might have got a bigger win. Of course if it wasn't for the dodgy linesman we may have dug out a draw. That's football I guess.
  20. B@gger!! I'm at a wedding. I've always found the EDT to have a pretty good atmosphere for the rugby. I think I watched us kick that kick at the CPT, which was also pretty good, even if it's more of a footie pub.
  21. Thanks DM, maybe next time. It certainly looks amazing (are you sure it's not pricey?), but we were slightly less classy last night with visits to McDaid's and the Hairy Lemon after dinner at the Chatham Brasserie.
  22. Great stuff Jah. I love Polly (don't worry both pollys missy d) and this album's next on my to buy list. This has whet my appetite nicely.
  23. To echo snory, bravo on every single point in your 'what I don't want my tax shrapnel spent on' post!!
  24. Listening to the new Stars album that I didn't even know was coming out. So far a bit dissappointed, not the catalogue of purest power pop that was Set Yourself on Fire, here's hoping it's a grower. But we'll celebrate the event with some old You're ex-lover is dead and some new Take me to the Riot
  25. everything you ever wanted to know about naughty word village in Austria
